Hello, I've been trying to fiddle with the portable infoboxes, but I am absolutely terrible with .css and I haven't been able to figure out how to do some things (even with the help pages). And you said that we could ask questions if we got stuck, so I'm going to take you up on that offer, lol.

  • How do I center headings? For example, I would like "Natsu Dragneel" and "Characteristics" here to be centered on the infobox.
  • How do I change the infoboxes (and its borders) colors? I'd like to use an alternating red and white color scheme like the one found on the original template.
    • In our current infoboxes, the text that is physically entered on each page is black, but the text on the infobox itself can be black or a different color. Is it possible to differentiate this? If so, how?
  • As mentioned on the forum, we have like 20+ infoboxes and they all use different colors, how would we go about setting up those individual themes in .css and in the actual templates?

I know these are a lot of questions, and I'm sorry about this, but my understanding of .css is very limited and even after reading the help pages and looking at other wikis, I'm still pretty confused. Thanks for your time. Iam...    JakuhōRaikōben02:48,8/31/2015

No worries. :D And that's great! As far as questions go, the ones I previously asked are the only ones we have currently. ^___^ Iam...    JakuhōRaikōben17:16,10/9/2015

Czech, you screwed something up. Many of the infoboxes are red links right now and I am too lazy and too tired to look into fixing it-- God · Pray · 04:58,3/13/2016

Re:Portable infoboxes: the return

Thanks, but I'd actually prefer to try to work out all the kinks prior to it going live because there were a few major issues that concerned me as well. For example, we use switch templates on a good many of our infoboxes. Is this something that can be used with the portable infoboxes as well? And our fight and event templates are coded a little weirdly. I'm worried about how that will transfer over. Iam...    JakuhōRaikōben09:02,3/13/2016

Re:Infobox merge

Hello :)
I hope it's not a problem if I respond to this matter, but I just checked 14 templates (I hope those were all of them) on different pages and none of them had any red links for me. Therefore, it appears that it all functions properly now.
DispellingSiegrain ChibiMage15:52,3/13/2016

I did notice red links before as I posted here, but I believe that Rai fixed the issue. Miskos3 Message 16:06, March 13, 2016 (UTC)

Oh no, that's completely my fault! I should've been more clear. What I meant by switch template was the image switching template that we use in several infoboxes. Will that still function properly with the portable infoboxes? And we'd prefer to preserve the colors we have now as they're indicative of different affiliations within the series. And as far as infoboxes that worry me go, the only ones I was really worried about were the fight and event templates, but since you say the coding won't be hard to transfer over, then I'm good as far as that is concerned. ^__^ Iam...    JakuhōRaikōben19:42,3/13/2016

GMG Category

I'm just sort of confused over why this category exists? It appears it was created today and I don't know what purpose it gives, except that it adds an entire category to the GMG fights that I don't see a use for. I'm not really complaining or anything, just wondering. Thanks for taking the time to explain. ;o
WrathRogue ChibiZero 15:16, March 14, 2016 (UTC)

I understand that, I like categorization myself, but the category is appearing on the fight pages too. What I specifically don't understand is why it would need to be on Grand Magic Games fight pages as well, since they are all categorized as fights to begin with. That's what I was trying to say initially, I guess.
WrathRogue ChibiZero 15:28, March 14, 2016 (UTC)

Ahh, thank you very much~ Will do!
WrathRogue ChibiZero 15:44, March 14, 2016 (UTC)

I didn't even think of the noinclude tag, for some reason. Thanks for the explanation.

Re:Re:Portable infoboxes: the return

Really? That's awesome! And thanks so much!! I've always meant to categorize our templates, but it's a huge job and I never quite got around to it. I truly appreciate the help!! Iam...    JakuhōRaikōben16:16,3/14/2016

Sounds like a plan! Always happy to help out. ^___^ Iam...    JakuhōRaikōben16:38,3/14/2016

Re:Portable infoboxes

They're absolutely perfect!!!!! :D Thanks so much!! I do have one very, very quick question about one of the infoboxes you provided though. Is it possible to alter the width of the spell box? I only ask because the images/gifs on spell pages are all 200px. Iam...    JakuhōRaikōben05:08,5/4/2016

Hi. I've gone ahead and approved all those drafts. And yes, that plan sounds great to me! ^___^ Iam...    JakuhōRaikōben16:42,5/4/2016

Hi :D Thanks for your help with the infoboxes! Just wanted to let you know that there is a bit of an issue with the switch template for the Spell infobox, for example see Urano Metria, and with indented lists in the combatants for the Fight infobox, for example see Lucy Heartfilia vs. Angel, and I was hoping you could take a look at it and help us fix it please? It'd be much appreciated :) Bickslow Doll Bickslow Doll3Bickslow Doll 2 16:53, May 4, 2016 (UTC)

Thanks a bunch! Bickslow Doll Bickslow Doll3Bickslow Doll 2 17:28, May 4, 2016 (UTC)

I think we are good since that was the only page that required a double indentation and removing it makes it look great so we are just gonna leave it how you left it since, as you said, it doesn't really matter in that case. I was actually looking at it in mobile and I love how the new infoboxes look. Thanks so much for looking into it :) Bickslow Doll Bickslow Doll3Bickslow Doll 2 17:36, May 4, 2016 (UTC)

Infobox Update

Hi there! Just wanted to say thanks again for all your infobox help. We really appreciate it! For the most part, they all seem to have been uploaded seamlessly. But there does to be a very slight issue with the concurrent field on the fight infobox. And the infoboxes for fights and chapters seem to have odd white space by the images. If you could check that out when you get a chance, that'd be great. Thanks. ^___^ Iam...    JakuhōRaikōben23:22,5/10/2016

Hello there~ Thanks for your assistance. The image thing seems to be fixed. As for the Concurrent issue, my browser is Chrome 50.0.2661.102 and I use Windows 10 Home. Since you mentioned zooming in and out, I tried to do so in Chrome and - as weird as it sounds - zooming in to 110% as well as zooming out to 90% made the issues disappear. I checked Firefox since I have it installed, and the issue wasn't present with that browser. Miskos3 Message 18:46, May 18, 2016 (UTC)

Thanks again! Seems to be fixed on my end. We'll see if the change of the word would work~ Miskos3 Message 19:43, May 18, 2016 (UTC)

Hi. Could you fix the image width in Chapter Infobox and Event Infobox? pic - Anonomnom (talk) 13:39, May 19, 2016 (UTC)

Sorry for the late reply! I was actually away for a few days due to personal illness. As far as the whole issue goes though, I was never having the issue either. The screenshot I posted on your talk page was just the same picture Miskos sent me about the problem, lol. At any rate though, everything seems to be good on Misk's end and everything's good on my end, so thank you again so much for your help! ^___^ And really sorry for all the trouble! Iam...    JakuhōRaikōben15:16,5/20/2016

That's more than fine. It's not that big of a deal. And thanks so much for all your help! ^__^ Iam...    JakuhōRaikōben16:14,5/23/2016

Hello, I'd like to ask about the new infoboxes, especially the infobox images, since to me it looks like they are of much lower quality than they used to be with the old infoboxes when set to a certain size. For instance, take a look at Negotiation with August, the image in the infobox looks rather blurry, right? So I took the liberty of using the preview mode and making a comparison between a 300px image in the infobox and a 300px image in the article itself, and I think the difference is clear, the same image in the infobox is of lower quality than the one in the article, even though they are the same size.

Do you think there's anything to be done? Thanks~ Miskos3 Message 18:14, June 21, 2016 (UTC)

Well, the quality loss truly wasn't too major by any means, but it was still rather visible to me as a frequent user of the wiki. Are you sure that it's only event pages though? I see something similar at fight pages and I'm sure I've seen it at chapter pages too, for instance Chapter 489, but now that I look again, the difference is very minor, almost non-existent. However, I see no change at the event page I originally linked you, even after refreshing (making an empty edit), do we need to wait perhaps?

Either way, thanks for assisting, even with something this trivial~ Miskos3 Message 19:00, June 21, 2016 (UTC)

Alrighty, thanks again. As for switching to the different format suggestion, I honestly don't think we have the manpower to make such a huge change, and even if we did, it'd certainly be more useful in keeping the wiki up to date (as it's rather falling behind at the moment), but I can see where you're coming from. Regardless, let us know what needs to be done and we'll try to help with what's needed~ Miskos3 Message 20:41, June 22, 2016 (UTC)

I'm gonna drop a question about this to the other admins and then come back to you, because while I think this solution sounds good, I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything important. Miskos3 Message 21:28, June 22, 2016 (UTC)

Alright, looks like we're ready to go! So whenever you can, feel free to apply the change & run the bot. Thanks~ Miskos3 Message 15:30, June 23, 2016 (UTC)
Hello, sorry to bother, but is there anything new about what we've talked about? Miskos3 Message 20:54, July 7, 2016 (UTC)
Oh, that's fine, take your time~ Miskos3 Message 09:36, July 8, 2016 (UTC)

Hi ! So I was going to convert the two infobox templates I created Template:Character Template (Dullahan Head) and Template:Character Template (Magnolia Town) to portables but I couldn't XP Well not that I didn't know who, I actually did convert them in mu editing but the problem was that I couldn't get them the right "theme", more like I didn't know how to make it recognize it. I want Dullahan Head template color theme as emerald ( #028f1e ) and Magnolia Town as tan #d2b48c. So can you please do it for me or at least tell me how to ?

HamodyKeyes FT siteAsgail 21:42, July 9, 2016 (UTC)

Hello, sorry to bother again, but is there anything new about the image issue we've talked about? If you're still busy, we don't mind waiting, just curious what's going on. :) Miskos3 Message 18:07, July 27, 2016 (UTC)

Bump, also, as far as my observation goes, when the mediawiki stuff was offline because of some issue on staff's side and the customizations to the infoboxes were disabled as a result, the images were looking good, so I assume it's some kind of setting in the customization for our wiki and the infoboxes that cause the image quality to be lowered/blurred. Thanks again for your assistance. Miskos3 Message 20:54, August 10, 2016 (UTC)
Oh, that sounds great. Thanks for the information! Miskos3 Message 22:18, August 10, 2016 (UTC)

Re: Reference popups

Hello, thanks for helping out!

I don't know if this is related to the issue in any way, but perhaps some additional information may help, as there is something I noticed, and that is that other functions seem to stop working randomly. I'm not sure if the other admin Wrath mentioned it in his report, but for example, earlier today, the auto-refresh function from the Wiki Activity disappeared, just to come back on its own like an hour later (this happened multiple times in the past few weeks), and some time ago, Wrath mentioned that the collapse's in his profile stopped working just to come back, again, on their own later.

As far as I can tell, this has been happening since one of the Wikia's weekly updates happened a few weeks ago, which completely disabled all our additions and changes (I believe this was a Wikia-wide issue? I'm sorry, I don't remember the exact date, but if needed, I can perhaps look it up at community wikia if it's still there), so our wiki background, customizations to the protable infoboxes, add-ons etc. etc. weren't working for a while. That has been fixed and most things came back, except for the reference pop up function and the things randomly going off and on as I mentioned.

The reason I'm writing all of this is that perhaps the problem may run deeper, because we haven't made any changes to our MediaWiki stuff for a long time, with the exception of you implementing the portable infoboxes (but that was a long time ago as well).

Thanks. Miskos3 Message 17:24, August 22, 2016 (UTC)

Oh, that's prefectly fine, Wrath and I have been communicating about the issue, so I know what's up :). As for the loss of various functions, yes, they indeed happened today most recently, but it's not the first time in the last few weeks. And finally, I'll be waiting to see if the CSS change helps~ Thanks once again. Miskos3 Message 18:59, August 22, 2016 (UTC)

Misk and I talk every day, so at his behest I contacted staff while waiting for you to get around to it (to see if someone could get to it first, you know). It seems that either way it worked out, because I got an email from Tim that said it was fixed (or so it seems, we haven't seen if it's actually working yet), but if anything comes back negative, I'll go to you since, as you've said, you have a somewhat closer working relation to our wiki's code. Thanks!
WrathRogue ChibiZero 19:30, August 22, 2016 (UTC)

Great, looks like it's working for me! Thanks for the help. O and while I am here, may I ask if there is any progress with the issue of images being low(er) quality in the portable infoboxes? Miskos3 Message 21:35, August 22, 2016 (UTC)

Of course, I understand that it takes some time, as well as some effort, I'm just curious about the progress! So thanks for letting me know what's up. If there's anything else we can do, let us know~ Miskos3 Message 13:53, August 23, 2016 (UTC)

Perfect, thank you! Miskos3 Message 16:27, August 25, 2016 (UTC)

About the images in infoboxes... again

Hello! Just passing by to ask if there's anything new about the issue we talked about back in August/July, the images in portable infoboxes being of lower quality than they should be. Sorry to ask the same thing again, just being curious about the progress. Thank you for your time! Miskos3 Message 20:53, November 21, 2016 (UTC)

As far as I can tell, the image in the infobox is still rather blurry, especially when compared to the same image outside of the infobox, for example, on this page, this is what it looks like on my end. Miskos3 Message 22:07, November 21, 2016 (UTC)

I have added two more examples to User:Miskos3/Sandbox. Here are the screenshots: [1] [2].

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that in comparison, the image outside of infobox (on the left) is 'sharper' and thus shows greater detail of the art, while on the other hand, the image in the infobox is somewhat blurry, when you look at the characters' faces, their eyes. I'm not sure if I'm explaining it well.

However, after going through several pages and also talking to a fellow admin, we actually concluded that the images in infoboxes do look better than before, at the time when we reported the issue. As far as I am concerned, I'd like the images to look the way they look on the left in the example I linked you, so more 'sharper', as that is how things were before the implementation of the portable infobox. However, I understand that at this point, it's a very minor issue, especially after there has been some improvement and thus the difference in quality may not be that big anymore, so if you think it's fine now, we can go with that. :) Miskos3 Message 23:32, November 21, 2016 (UTC)

What I also see is that as of right now, on chapter, episode, fight, and event pages (I think those are all of them), there is now a margin around the left and right-hand sides of the image (like so). I'm not sure if this is a side-effect of whatever you had done to improve the image quality, but it's worth noting, I think. It's as if the images now don't meet a size specification.
WrathRogue ChibiZero 03:51, November 22, 2016 (UTC)

Yes, the images are much better, but the way the infoboxes look now, with the space on the sides is not really the best, especially because it actually affects the width of the image from what I can tell - 300px isn't 300px anymore. Does that mean we have to pick between the infoboxes looking good or images looking good? xD

As for the template naming, that honestly goes beyond me as I believe the original setup was to name templates in a similar manner. Miskos3 Message 09:15, November 22, 2016 (UTC)

Well, the 4 infoboxes where the image being smaller looks odd to me are {{Character Template (Fight)}}, {{Character Template (Chapter)}}, {{Character Template (Event)}} and {{Character Template (Episode)}}. Would putting those to full width decrease the image quality again? Miskos3 Message 16:30, November 22, 2016 (UTC)

Yay, it looks great! Thanks a bunch. As for the way images are put into infoboxes, I actually recall this being brought up when we talked a few months ago and after I asked our bureaucrat, he said to go for it, I don't remember what happened with it then though. xD So if you're able to run the bot, that'd be great.~ Miskos3 Message 23:18, November 22, 2016 (UTC)

Oh, I'm sorry, but I've noticed one more template that needs fixing: {{Character Template (Arc)}}. Thanks yet again. Miskos3 Message 13:54, November 23, 2016 (UTC)
