Aaaaaand We're back. Been a while since I did an FT blog cause the series bored me to death near the end and I didn't want to ever come here. But now we're back with a new series and well... the first chapter isn't too promising.
We start with a bunch of newbies joining the guild and one just wants to be the guild master and Laxus scares him away, which in turn scares another away. Then we have some chick who is in love with Natsu cause apparently he rode in on a stallion or a dragon or something and saved her life. Idk, but she's obviously crazy. I did enjoy the transition here though with them pointing out that this girl is very similar to Juvia with Juvia then saying Gray left her by herself as we then find out what Natsu and co are up to.
So Natsu and all them are heading to some other continent where they will do the 100 years quest and yada yada yada. Flashback to Natsu and Gildarts talking and Natsu saying he wont fail because he has friends and wont do the quest alone.... goddamnit friendship already. So then they get to the guild to accept the quest and turns out there is an actual dragon there.
Yeah, so for a first chapter, it didn't really draw me in. It was great seeing the guild members again and it reminded me of the good times of FT, but there was nothing in the chapter that really piqued my curiosity and made me crave more now. It was mildly entertaining but if this was a fresh manga with no relation to a series I had previously read, I probably wouldn't continue reading. It didn't do enough to stand out.
Also, the artwork is rough. Its similar enough to Mashima's art but different enough that those differences really stand out and make me cringe a bit. Gray looks bad but luckily the chapter fixed Erza, who looked horrible in the promo art. It will definitely take some getting used to.
