Okay, so this chapter was pretty meh in my opinion. The chapter started off with Gray vs. Invel, which was every bit as disappointing as I thought it would be. No matter how you cut it, when you are presenting your readers with the sixth or seventh ice vs. ice matchup in the series, there's just no way to make it interesting. The only remotely decent thing about this fight was the reveal regarding the side effects of Gray's Magic. If done properly, Mashima could do something very interesting with Gray's possible "loss of sanity." But what I fear is that this will only be used to fuel some Naruto vs. Sasuke-ish battle between Natsu and Gray, which, God help me, I do not want to watch. The absolute worst part of this chapter is the Ice Lock between Gray and Juvia. I was hoping and praying that Juvia wouldn't have anything to do with this match, and when Mashima had her frozen with Natsu and the others I was glad because I thought Mashima did the right thing... then this chapter happened. ( .___.) I'm sorry, but Gruvia has pretty much ruined Juvia's character, and every interaction between her and Gray is tiring at this point. I just don't see them getting out of this situation in a way that doesn't irritate me completely. >_>
Overall, if I'm being honest, I wasn't too pleased with this chapter, but I'll reserve my judgement until I see how this situation pans out. :P We know it won't be with anyone's death, but perhaps the resolution will still be entertaining.
