Chapter cover was just sexy Erza being sexy. Nothing special there.
The chapter begins with Wendy, Doranbolt, and Carla reflecting on the discoveries made last chapter. And do you know what Wendy does? She cuts her hair. Like everyone expected her to do. I would be impressed, but I feel as if I've seen that in multiple manga/anime. Is that supposed to be the ultimate sign of female bad-assery or something? A hair cut? -___- I get those at least three times a month. Nothing special. :D Anyhow, elsewhere, Minerva and Erza are continuing their long drawn out bout. And as much as I want to dislike Erza's boring fights right now, I just can't help but feel she looks like a badass. It's her agility and flexibility. They are my weaknesses... Actually, scratch that. As soon as I thought that I just might like this fight, Erza starts rambling off about that same old bullshit about hearts and motives and trying to save Minerva's soul. If the bitch is evil, let her be evil!!! We do get a small flashback about Minerva's past and we see that Jiemma was abusive. No shock there. And he makes Minerva take off her clothes like Yukino. Pervy old dad is pervy. >:D Jk. He's just a dick. >_>
Anyhow, Erza continues to dogwalk Minerva sans any armors, and in perhaps her worst quote in history she says "my fist is crying while hitting you." WHAT?! ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS?! That is absolute garbage!!! I don't think I've ever heard something so cheesy in a manga. Shame on you Mashima!!! Shame!!!! Although, maybe it sounded cooler in Japanese. >_> But do you want to know what was worse than the cheesy quote? Minerva asking Erza to kill her. Really? REALLY?!
After all the build up between those two, this is how Mashima chooses to handle their fight?! Words cannot express how angry I am right now. While Erza and Minerva have a moment that belongs in some cheesy action chick flick, our increasingly gay Demon King pops in and decides to start some shit. And Minerva decides to sacrifice herself for Erza, but Sting and Rogue show up and save Minerva; Rogue looking even gayer than Mard Geer. >_>
Okay, this chapter was bad. And when I say bad I mean I hated it so much that I am shaking. Firstly, we've been wanting to see a real battle from Minerva and Erza for a long time and Mashima's been building up the battle for a long time. After all that build up, he gives us this crap! Are you fucking kidding me? Secondly, people don't change their personalities in the span of a damn chapter. Minerva's a sadistic bitch, and even though I hate her, I loved her personality. I like to see people who are confident in themselves. But for some reason, Mashima decides to change that and make her a Nakama-loving wuss like literally every other character in the show. Now, granted he has been hinting that he was going to do it, but if he was going to, at the very least he should have waited until after Minerva and Erza had a really good fight. That way I wouldn't feel so resentful. Thirdly, what the hell is up with all of Erza's fights? Why is Mashima always making her make deranged bitches see the light? Erza Knightwalker, Kagura, and now Minerva. And if I took some time to think, I'm sure I could think of some more. It's old and its annoying. Why can't she and her opponents ever just duke it out? Why does someone have to see the error of their ways at the end of all of her battles? It's annoying. And do you know what else is annoying? Mashima ALWAYS making Erza fight in that annoying non-armor armor. I'M SICK OF IT! I know Mashima may not feel like drawing a thousand armors, but that's not our problem. If you introduce a character that is a user of Re-quip Magic, you can't have her stop using it or use it only off screen because you're lazy. Get your shit together dude! It was okay the first time she used it. Now it's just annoying as hell. This chapter was shit and I'm probably going to go to bed angry because of it.
