Tenrou Island (天狼島 lit. Heaven Wolf Island) was the holy ground of Fairy Tail Guild, as stated by Makarov [1] This year's S-Class Wizard Promotion Trial was held on this island. It was also the resting place of Fairy Tail's first master, Mavis Vermilion.
Climate and Area
Tenrou Island was well-known for its hot climate, which was not effected by other climates and weather systems on the mainland. Wendy said it's because of convection, which keeps temperatures high all year long.[2] The lower half of the island was full of natural caves, which form a large, underground labyrinth. On the surface, the island was covered by rich, tropical jungles and waterfalls. It was serving as the battleground in the war between Grimoire Heart and Fairy Tail. It was destroyed by The Black Dragon, Acnowlogia, after the Fairy Tail and Grimoire Heart war ended.
Barrier
The Island was normally hidden by a strong barrier, making it impossible to find no matter what magic one uses. This is because there is a highly classified secret regarding Fairy Tail hidden there.
Flora and Fauna

Tenrou Island was covered by lush, green vegetation, and has extremely tall trees. It has a tree so large on it, the Great Tenrou Tree, that its top creates such a large flat surface that it seems to be a "second" island, which had large, arbor-like plants on it. Enormous, aggressive animals live on this island, some looking like pseudo-dinosaurs. Apparently, a few of these animals can speak in human language as well.
Makarov says, that on Tenrou, excluding other wild animals, live real fairies.[3]
Magic and Abilities
The Great Tenrou Tree bestows divine protection upon those bearing the Fairy Tail crest making so they can not die while it still has power.[4]
