Sometimes characters are given voice actors different to the character's gender, it could have just been directed to give Motherglare a deep voice. I think it's speculating to say for certain that they are male and at the very least we should use neutral pronouns "they/them". The manga also apparently refers to them as a "mother dragon". --[[User:Neffyarious|Neffyarious]] ([[User talk:Neffyarious|talk]]) 16:06, August 7, 2020 (UTC) |

obviously a woman
Seeing as how Motherglare can produce eggs, and is well a mother, i think it is safe to assume their gender is female--Quoth The Raven "Nevermore" ' 22:10, May 10, 2013 (UTC)
yeah, but no male of any species can produce eggs, and the word mother is in "her" name, the word mother denotes a woman--Quoth The Raven "Nevermore" ' 22:14, May 10, 2013 (UTC)
- I just felt like pointing this out... after 20 days <.< Miskos3 Message 18:17, May 31, 2013 (UTC)
It could just be magic, or something that 'it' stored in it's body at some point, rather than actually giving birth. After all those things that come forth aren't actual baby Dragons. NoNickNeeded (talk) 22:20, May 10, 2013 (UTC)
My problem is that many of the other dragons are just assumed to be male and they haven't had any gender pronouns used on them either... while Motherglare is just an "it." That's pretty sexist. What's the harm with going for female pronouns until proven otherwise?—This unsigned comment was made by 68.34.186.108 (talk • contribs) .
- Because that would be a definite, and using a definite without proof is speculation, which we, I'm afraid, don't allow.

minions?
shouldn't we make a page for these minions? it doesn't even have a description on the eggmagic page --FirePit (talk) 16:55, June 7, 2013 (UTC)
- I was thinking the exact same thing. I'll talk to someone about it personally.

Gender
I see this conversation happened above but didn't go anywhere, so is it ever stated anywhere that Motherglare is male? They seem to be female. --Neffyarious (talk) 15:12, August 7, 2020 (UTC)
In the original japanese anime, motherglare was voiced by a male voice actor and can be heard having a deep voice which is similar to the majority of the proven male dragons unlike the female dragon grandeeney. Then the english dub of the anime choosed to assign a female voice actor to motherglare which is very likely due to assuming that its female because of the word "mother" in its name.
So since there is a contradiction between the two anime versions we would prioritize on the japanese version for the sake of accuracy. Think of it this way why would mashima allow the japanese animation team to voice motherglare that way in the first place instead of assigning a feminine voice and make it obvious that it was supposed to be female and as i remember mashima never bothered making it obvious that motherglare was female. Similar to how God serena was speculated to be female due to having a feminine name, its possible that the name motherglare was treated the same. LightningGeist 15:32, August 7, 2020 (UTC)
