Four Elements

This topic was made by our friend:

Shouldn't it be mentioned in his Magic and Abilities section that he can use Air, Water and Earth Magic, too? He never displayed their use, but since he can cast Abyss Break, a spell that requires the combination of all four elements, he should be able to use all four elements separately. TheGrudge 15:09, May 24, 2012 (UTC)

I agree with him, but he was clearly ignored. So, I was wondering if you would mind giving us your precious opinion? Please? Thanks. :) MiraMajinMirajane Chibi 2Talk! 01:47,3/30/2013

One theory to that is he (Jellal, of course) can control those said elements but not mastered it. SENKOMirajane Chibi 2talk 06:17, May 2, 2013 (UTC)

Support Support -- I personally support it,seeing how it was stated that Abyss Break can be used by channeling the Four Elements and use them. I wouldn't say Jellal has incredible mastery over them. But it should be at least mentioned that he can utilize them. If Makarov's page has Wind Magic, this should be in Jellal's. MarineroLelouch (talk) 13:58, February 3, 2014 (UTC)

Support Support - We should atleast mention that he can also use the other elemental magics. Besides he was a wizard saint so im sure hes cable of using the other elemental magic enough to be able to cast Abyss Break on his own, so i dont think he can only use the other magic on a basic level since the phantom lord needed 4 elemental specialist just to create the said spell, atleast mention it like its on the same level as his fire magic mastery. Just like in avatar, jellal should be a master of the four elements. XD LightningGeistLaxus Chibi 17:35, July 12, 2014 (UTC)

Support Support - Exactly, Mirajane already explained that Abyss Break is a magic that requires all four elements to cast, so it's obvious that Jellal have the power of the Four Elements. Sting Eucliffe GMG MagnoChibi StingCosmosCarla Anime S2 18:23, July 12, 2014 (UTC)

First, I'm loling at the fact that this was picked up like 2 years after it was posted here (though, with the tone given by the second poster, I can see why >__>), but because you all seem so set on an answer, I will give my opinion. I Support Support - a change. What I mean by this is that we DO have an inconsistency. The Abyss Break page says this can be done by a person who has knowledge of the four elements and references Jellal, yet Jellal's page does not say he uses the four elements as Magic. One way or another something has to be changed and I say that adding Earth, Water and Wind Magic to Jellal's page is the way to go. Unless someone has an extreme reason for not wanting this to occur, I'll change it in a little while. Thanks. ☆°・*CarrotSays...*・°☆ 04:19, July 15, 2014 (UTC)

I was just noticing... In the official English translation, Jellal's last name get's spelled with a Z. Maybe this is nitpicky of me, but I thought that maybe it could be changed. --Snowsiren 8:23, April 8, 2013 (UTC)

Hi there. Can you please specify what your source is? Is it a volume or an online translation? And if it is a volume, can you specify which one?

Thank you

Eye Color

Hey guys... uhm... I've been wondering about why in Jellal's infobox he has brown eye color when there are some images of him that have a greenish but a bit brownish eye color which would be olive. Well, look at his eyes from this image and zoom it in. (I know it's a crappy edit (_ _) I just wanted to emphasize his eyes)

In addition, there are also these images (this and this) which would prove that his eyes aren't brown. At first, when you see some of the images, his eyes are brown in color, but if you look closely, they are a bit greenish, or something between brown and green. Since they don't really look brown, and they aren't full green either, I suggest we use olive as his eye color. Red SigHearts 12:32AM, April 30, 2013

If I remembered it correctly, Ultra told me that a discussion were held, and the result would be keeping Brown as Jellal's eye color.

That is, if my memory is not toying with me. >.>
User Page User Talk 16:35, 4/29/2013

I don't remember any discussion, and there wasn't any above too. I don't think my eyes are kidding me into thinking that his eyes are olive with those images. So I wanted clarity. Red SigHearts 12:39AM, April 30, 2013

I did say brown would be kept as an eye color Choko, but that conversation we had was referring to Cana, not Jellal.

Anyways, I just took a look at some colored media, specifically this and this and Jellal's eyes here actually appear to be more along the lines of blue than anything else. So if we can get some more media in here, we can widen our range of resources.

Éclair MovieUltraprime2Let's talkChibi Mystogan 16:40, April 29, 2013 (UTC)

Don't we follow manga though? They are clearly brown here, for example. Just checked it, zoomed in PS while using the Eyedropper tool > Color picker multiple times. I couldn't find any sign of green. Miskos3 Message 16:42, April 29, 2013 (UTC)

I trust a volume cover more than a chapter. I'll have to agree with Ultra.

Good point. Although the volume is fairly old, Mashima tends to change stuff around... Aren't there any newer ones with Jellal in it? Or Mystogan. They should be the same =O Miskos3 Message

He did it for volume 12, too. I think a difference as big as volume 12 to 18 is trustable enough.
Chibi Sting Mega ♦ Talk Chibi Cobra   16:55, April 29, 2013 (UTC)

If, just if, we were to use blue, wouldn't we be making more confusions? I mean, how should we say that Jellal's real eye color is blue when we are more into using images with olive-colored eyes? Red SigHearts 1:56AM, April 30, 2013

It's just like Kagura's hair.
Chibi Sting Mega ♦ Talk Chibi Cobra   18:00, April 29, 2013 (UTC)

I'm not even sure what to vote for... Honestly speaking, characters mostly get notable eye colors when their faces are zoomed in or are the center of focus. Since the volume covers appear to be indifferent with colors for Jellal's eyes, I think we would have to go to manga colors or artwork as a secondary source. His picture here seems to be a decent indication... so I'm leaning towards Brown for now.
:Umnei:Juvia'sPictureForUmneiSignature 18:22, April 29, 2013 (UTC)

Brown of course. The latest manga drawings have it as brown. Also, they are all brown in the anime. Just cuz they have a small tint of green doesn't make them green or olive. RelikzBickslow Doll3Talk 20:04, April 29, 2013 (UTC)

I'd say brown for the reasons Reli just listed, and I'd also like to point out Volume Covers aren't "more credible" than chapter covers. I think whatever comes the latest and has the most backing is more credible.   Rai  Talk     22:26,4/29/2013

Support Support - Mashima uses blue for a majority of Jellal's appearances in color. The new brown from the Fantasia artbook is very likely just a one of those swaps that he did for a special color, such as with Gajeel in his first volume cover appearance. Glass Heart (GHeart) 23:23,4/30/2013

Shouldn't Jellal have Immense Endurance rather than "enhanced" Endurance? He has repeatedly cast powerful spells one after another and after getting beaten up. He cast Self Destruction (big enough to destroy Nirvana and another one to kill himself),then gotten beaten up by Midnight then still had the endurance and magic to make Natsu go Dragon Force. And now in his latest fight, after taking all that hit,he casts Three Demonsional Seal Formation,Grand Chariot and Sema in succession with ease. Is there a higher endurance feat in the series? In the Tower Of Heaven,,Meteor,Altearis(a spell implied to be able to kill Erza and Natsu in there) all those blasts,Grand Chariot and after getting beaten the shit out of him he could still cast Abyss Break. The wound kicking in shouldn't have anything to do with his endurance. He also managed to face off against natsu after being heavily impaled by erza.

Jellal's elements

We list Jellal as a user of Wind/Earth/Water Magic due to his usage of Abyss Break, but it's never actually said that those three specific magics are what is used in it's composition, just that you need the four elements to use it (In it's only other usage Wind/Water Magic are not used but rather Airspace and Water are). So I believe these magics should be removed as it is speculative that Jellal has them. --Neffyarious (talk) 13:41, April 23, 2019 (UTC)

Even though he was never shown using those three magic it was still a canonical fact that abyss break will only work if those four elements exist, and i agree that labeling it by just water, earth and wind magic is speculative so instead of removing it why not just change it to Unnamed Water Magic, Unnamed Wind Magic & Unnamed Earth Magic, just to specify that the unnamed magic has a water, earth & wind element enough for him to cast abyss break on his own. LightningGeistLaxus Chibi

I agree that reference should be made to him being able to use Water/Wind/Earth in some form, just that the three currently listed should be removed. However I'd suggest just replacing it "Elemental Magic" and mentioning the three under that, since it's possible he may have just one form of magic that can use those three elements. --Neffyarious (talk) 14:54, April 23, 2019 (UTC)

That is a possible alternative but won't it be misleading by just calling it as Elemental Magic since others might see it as an unnamed magic that lets its user have access to the elements of water, wind and earth. So if we label jellal's magic into Elemental Magic - blah blah blah (Unnamed) it might mislead people that he is using one form of magic called Elemental magic that lets him have access to the three elements.

On second thought for the sake of uniformity all over the wiki we can just leave jellal with wind, water and earth magic and write it like this Water Magic - blah blah blah (Unnamed) since it is unnamed but we still know that it is related to the element of water, earth and wind, that way it wont overcomplicate things. LightningGeistLaxus Chibi 16:11, April 23, 2019 (UTC)

For least speculation we could go with maximum ambiguity and say:
"Elements: Jellal possess the capability to use the elements of wind, water and earth, as displayed by his utilization of them alongside his Fire Magic to prepare the Abyss Break". --Neffyarious (talk) 17:10, April 23, 2019 (UTC)

Saying he can use the Elements - blah blah blah (Unnamed) like it is a natural ability of his makes it more speculative, it was already shown that abyss break is a form of magic that needs the four elements and it was shown that 4 elemental magic users with the ability to use the 4 elemental magic are needed to cast it, since jellal can cast abyss break on his own it make sense that he possess the required magic for it to be used.

Keep in mind jellal is also a wizard saint and magic is the main theme of fairy tail it makes sense that he can use the other elemental magic to cast abyss break since it's already said it needs a specific elemental magic than us saying he can use an element and not call it magic. The element four can use the four elements through magic, if we say jellal used it without the use of magic then we are contradicting the information from the manga.

Mashima did not even introduced the concept that a human can use an element without magic within the fairy tail universe so saying jellal has the capability to use the element of wind, water and earth that are not magic while also using fire magic is much more speculative. LightningGeistLaxus Chibi 17:44, April 23, 2019 (UTC)

After double checking this wiki only add (Unnamed) at the end of the magic if the magic itself was never officially named by mashima himself and as long as a certain magic is introduced in the manga then it will no longer be unnamed since its existence was already declared by the manga or anime.LightningGeistLaxus Chibi 18:09, April 23, 2019 (UTC)

Also since mashima tends to reuse concept from his other work such as rave where sieghart is an elementalist that can use multiple elemental magic as well as the signature spell grand chariot, its possible that mashima intended to also make jellal similar to sieghart. LightningGeistLaxus Chibi 18:19, April 23, 2019 (UTC)

I didn't say it wasn't magic, I though it went without saying. If your worried about it being misinterpreted then put "capability to use the elements of wind, water and earth through magic". --Neffyarious (talk) 19:03, April 23, 2019 (UTC)

I wouldn't change this, Abyss Break uses those elements in unison, it's fine how it is imo. I'll close this one too Ncduru 14:55, April 28, 2019 (UTC)

Magic Power

I feel his Magic Power needs some updating. One his mastery over magic allowed him to learn a large number of different kinds of Magic. As Brain was impressed by how quickly he could learn and use Magic. And that his Magic Power increased between the Tartaros and Alvarez Arcs. As in the Alvarez Arc, he was powerful enough to defeat Neinhart and destroy several ships with only one spell. Where as during the time of Grand Magic Games he was struggling against Jura.[[User:Twilight Despair 5|]] ([[The God of Creation]]) (talk) 18:43, September 26, 2019 (UTC)
