Eyepatch[]

if you look closely you can see there's another black line coming out of that direction. so hades probably has an eyepatch

Name[]

His title name should still be Hades because that's how we learned him by. Similar to how Hoteye of the Oracion Seis is not called "Richard". Horologium4 19:51, December 20, 2010 (UTC)

holy cray Hades is stronger than Makarov totally Hades is just amazing he is probelly one of strongest dark mages in the world he is freaken powerful.User: Dmala13 27th of December 15:00

Useless Trivia[]

A hobby of mine is searching character pages for junk trivia and I found a couple of Trivia points on this page to be, in my opinion, junk trivia, and I would like to delete them. But of course I would like to get everyone elses feedback on them before I deleted them.

1. "Like the Hades from the God Of War series, he also uses chains with grappling hooks as his primary form of attack."

I don't think this is very interesting Trivia, also I don't really see the point of making a reference to another series, unless it is another one by Mashima himself.

2. "Hades is very old. At the time of handing Fairy Tail over to Makarov, 48 years ago, he was pictured as an old man, who looked to be roughly in his 60s-70s. This would put him at well over 100 years old in current time."

This statement is not only guessing at his age, but it's something that can be found out by reading the article.

3. "He was the first character in the series that defeated Makarov in a fair and square battle, making him the most powerful mage in the series to date (besides Zeref)."

This trivia point is a contradiction within itself, It states that he is the most powerful mage in the series, then right afterwards It's states that the statement doesn't include Zeref, If he isn't the most powerful then this shouldn't be listed.

4. "Hades and Brain both picked certain select individuals and trained them to be the best and main force of their guilds."

This isn't a very interesting Trivia point to me, it seems like Junk Trivia at best.

5. "Given that he taught the Seven Kin of Purgatory their magic, it is highly probable that he himself knows all their magic."

This statement is a contradiction to what is said in his abilities section which states "Assuming Hades was the one who personally trained the Seven Kin of Purgatory in Lost Magic, then he must have a vast knowledge on a variety of magics." His abilities section states that him teaching the Seven Kin is an assumption and this trivia point says that he did teach it to them, so I believe it should be deleted.

If anyone has any objections to me deleting one or all of these trivia points, please explain why, of course I won't delete EVEN ONE trivia point until I have everyone's opinion on it. --Iam...JakuhoRaikoben 06:55, February 5, 2011 (UTC)

Firstly, you have an odd hobby, and secondly, I would just get rid of them if I were you, you already did more than what is recommended and that was to explain your deletion, I would certainly not wait for everyone to not object, unless you count the complete lack of objections there is no as everyone not objecting. felinoel ~ (Talk) 07:24, February 5, 2011 (UTC)
I too dislike random/useless trivia. I'll delete some for now, and see how it goes.. Horologium4 07:33, February 5, 2011 (UTC)
I think you should just delete all those examples... felinoel ~ (Talk) 07:50, February 5, 2011 (UTC)

Hades=Odin[]

I think Hades might have some kinda character significance to the Norse god, Odin. i mean one of his eyes are gone and he does look like a stereotypical odin type character. i mean he even looks like the yugioh rendition of odin. plus, hades is kinda like a play on words cause hades would be king of hell while odin is the king of the gods in norse. --Imhungry4444 16:54, August 9, 2011 (UTC)

He probably does but it can't be put in the article since it's speculation and some people might not see the similarities. RelikzRelikz Talk 18:16, August 9, 2011 (UTC)

Trivia addition?[]

I'm not 100% clear on what the admins of this wiki (I'm usually at another wiki) like for trivia, but I'm surprised that there has been no note that Hades' appearance under the influence of his eye looks almost completely like Shakuma, a villain from Mashima's previous work of Rave Master.--Nintendogeek01 01:23, April 25, 2012 (UTC)

We allow those kinds of trivia AS LONG as it's worded right. RelikzTalk PageTalk 02:34, April 25, 2012 (UTC)

Actually no we don't. We allow cross character comparisons only if they are the exact character like Plue. "Looks like" doesn't fit the bill. Jakuho My Contributions Talk ph 02:37,4/25/2012

Really? Well I don't know who is Shakuma or anything from Rave so I wouldn't know. RelikzTalk PageTalk 02:40, April 25, 2012 (UTC)

Devil's Heart and Co[]

Hey folks.

Is it safe to place Hades' physical skills below the section regarding the Devil's Heart, as if his strength and speed derived from it? As far as we know, only Hades' seeming invincibility and his longevity stemmed from it. In addition, Grimoire Heart's Master continued to show considerable strength after the Heart's destruction, sending Natsu crashing away with a simple palm strike (and I doubt he has the same Magic as Bacchus...).

If you ask me, we should seperate the sections, leaving only Immense Durability (which maybe might be given a more fitting name, or be paired with an Enhanced/Immense Longevity section, don't know) under the Devil's Heart.

On a side note... That Transform One Magic to Another that the anime created is hideous. Couldn't we just refer to it as Darkness Magic?

-- Aldarinor Laxus Sprite Talk  Contribs  14:12, July 21, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, but that palm strike doesn't configure an "Immense Strength" in my view. It's just a normal strength in Fairy Tail's terms. However, while possessing the Devil's Heart, he was much more stronger and experienced fighter. And I agree with it being Darkness Magic. Herme 14:24,7/21/2012

I didn't say it configured an Immense Strength. What I'm saying is that assuming that Hades' physical skills stemmed from the Heart is mere speculation. The Heart was stated to be the source of Hades' Magic and longevity, there was no mention of physical skills. Besides, experience? Hades' experience remains in any case, Heart or not. It would be like saying that a veteran who loses his sword is no longer an experienced fighter.

I agree with DaRinor. It's speculation.   Rai  Talk     16:33,7/21/2012

Yeah, I agree with DaRinor... The Enhanced Reflexes is also not from the Devil's Heart but from experience in combat... Support Support - Transform One Magic to Another to Darkness Magic Gildarts CliveGildarts Clive 18:56, July 22, 2012 (UTC)

And on a side note, I think Hades should be given Immense Reflexes/Agility instead of merely Enhanced. He avoided blows from two fast characters clad in a speed-enhancing aura, and was also able to duck melee and ranged assaults from an even faster character.

I've reopened this discussion for I'm still uncertain about something: should Hades' forms of Magic be moved below the Devil's Heart (or rather, should the latter part be moved on top of his Magic and Abilities section), since, technically, they stem from it?

-- Aldarinor Laxus Sprite Talk  Contribs  08:20, July 28, 2012 (UTC)

I think the Devil's Heart is just something that keeps him alive, without interference in the Magics he use. Herme 00:46,7/30/2012

I think the Devil's Heart was just used to provide him with Magic Power and physical attributes. So, no. I think the way it is now is fine.   Rai  Talk     01:00,7/30/2012

Hades' quote category[]

Pardon, but shouldn't Hades' quote category be under Grimoire Heart instead of other? Or is it because he's dead that it is under the other category? Could somebody get back to me on that? Because if it is a mistake, i'll fix it up right quick. If not, I'll just let it be. DarkErigor (talk) 18:19, March 24, 2013 (UTC)

In Vol 26 Hades' real name is revealed to be Precht via Makarov's recollections. Even though it's a huge indifference on my part, I'm still bringing it part for the sake of the wiki :P Make some noise if you want a change or not~ Have a great day :)

@ Rai Because its healthy to open up a discussion between our own unofficial sources with at least another source that would have a bit more credibility than fan/scanlations :) And as far as the voting goes... Support Support - Precht's an actual German name which we've seen several times within FT (Makarov, Milkovich, Strauss) unlike Purehito, which isnt really a name.... Moreso, the romaji also complements the change (Precht is pronounced Prekt so I'm not surprised Purehito was derived from the romaji)

Support Support - Surprisingly, I'm actually in support of the name change. The reason why I didn't disagree with the current "Real Name" back when it was first revealed is because I don't know what プレヒト could've translated into in English. But after noticing that it's a German origin word, and after listening to how it would sound in German, I'd say it's a better alternative than a direct romaji translation. Support Support - I've been holding back for the last day to see what other people would think before I cast my vote. Honestly, this is one of those cases where, even without the note, Kodansha has it right. Precht is very much right, much like Yhwach from Bleach (Juhabach, or, in kana, Yūhabahha). Sometimes correctness takes precedence over preference. :/
WrathYou...wanna talk.Zero 15:02, May 24, 2013 (UTC)

Okay, I'm going to have to stop you right there. Correctness always takes precedence over preference on this site. The reason we all opposed it was because we had no reason to believe the translation was more correct because neither Umnei nor Chaos gave us any information on the translation until after there had been sweeping opposition to the change. (You too, also did not leave a message until Nei-chan and Mapa gave their support and the reasons behind their support) Your message seems to imply that we have some kind of vendetta against Kodansha translations because of the lack of note and a personal preference to fan translated names, and that is not the case. The reason we don't just jump on the Kodansha bandwagon is simple - when the note disappeared, we had no proof that the translation came from Mashima, so whether or not we changed to the Kodansha translations became a case by case matter, and yes, we don't usually use Kodansha's translations, but that's because it involves a lot of hassle for a translation that could be more accurate or could not be and it involves people, both us and all of the readers of this wiki, to do away with a translation that we've gotten used to. In this case it is more accurate, and since we actually have proof of that, we can move forward with the translations. Also, I bumped you because you edit conflicted me. :P   Rai  Talk     15:14,5/24/2013
Don't worry, Rai. Wrath and I have been discussing this matter even prior to me posting the discussion, so he's not one of those bandwagon voters :P and yes, Kodansha's translations are pretty much a case-by-case situation now. I really wish there was a way for Mashima to outright tell us his affiliation with Kodansha's translations, whether they are indeed correct or just translations from the company without Mashima's consent...
:Umnei:Talk to me! 15:21, May 24, 2013 (UTC)
