Gender

This discussion is closed. The result of this discussion is:
Even if scanlators pick a gender to use, the official Japanese version of the manga uses a gender-neutral pronoun. Until said pronoun becomes gender-specific, Frosch's gender will remain as 'unknown'.

Is anyone sure that Frosh is actually a male since the eyes have eyelashes witch is usually seen on females and the cheeks have blush marks. --NewWorldWarrior 23:25, November 7, 2011 (UTC)

I know that Kodansha's word doesn't hold much weight with the wiki, but it might be worth mentioning that they've said they plan on treating Frosch as male. Heads up for if anyone tries to 'correct' the wiki on that one. --Isaya831 20:54, June 11, 2013 (UTC)

Frosch is referred to with gender non-specific pronouns in Japanese, so his gender is undeterminable at this time.

In the native japanese though, Frosch is never referred to by any specific gender. Scanlators make up the gender--GodPray 23:15,8/16/2013

Unless you can link us to those sites as a reference and show us the exact line (not someone's version of the line) where Hiro Mashima stated that Frosch is male it will be considered fan rumour, just as every other claim of Frosch's gender has been to date. Name

Can we change the name to Frosch? It's pronounced the same, but is the actual correct spelling of the German word for frog, which I am pretty sure it's based on. 84.114.211.159 23:57, January 6, 2012 (UTC)

Hair or Fur color?

This is more of a general Exceed issue than exclusive to Frosch (this was just the first page were I noticed it).

I thought 'Hair' also means hair covering your body, even in animals' case. My dictionary clearly mentions cats' hair... Miskos3 Message 10:24, June 12, 2013 (UTC)

Whoops overlooked that last one till now. Yes it's not exactly wrong, but I've yet to hear it refered that way in common language, unless people are talking about single hairs, rather than the whole fur, though that might be a regional thing in the place I live at. Death Prediction

Is there a reason why no one added that shadow Rouge told Natsu to tell Rouge to protect Frosch from dying in a year's time from the end of the timegate arc at all costs in order to prevent Rouge from turning into shadow Rouge? 94.159.159.248 10:47, March 29, 2014 (UTC)

Frosch's gender part 2

Fairy Tail (2014) episode 27 it mentions that Frosch is a female. (14.203.78.145 06:20, October 4, 2014 (UTC))

As we have said 100 times over, English, unlike Japanese, DOES NOT have a gender neutral pronoun, and scanlators and subbers CHOOSE a pronoun to use to make the subtitles/translations make sense. Until Frosch gets a gender specific pronoun IN THE MANGA RAWS its gender will remain as unknown. Thank you!

P.S: The subs I watched switched between "he" and "she" depending on who was talking.

Hi sorry to start this discussion again, but someone posted this tweet of Mashima on the french wiki and said that it was telling that Frosh is a girl. Do you have any informations about that :o ? Thank you ! Dulanabey ^Talk

Idk what the tweet says or if it's legit, ask Wrath for that but on Frosch's actual guild card in the manga its unknown. If this is real if it's fair to discuss but I'm not too sure it is Ncduru 18:45, January 7, 2017 (UTC)

Sorry if I do any of this wrong, as I've never posted on this site before, just stumbled upon it, but I used Google's image translator and that tweet, if it's real, is definitely saying that Frosch is female. However, this doesn't really prove anything unless somebody can actually find evidence that the tweet originated from Hiro.
