Rebellious (白魔術教団 Riberiasu) is a White Magic-cult worshiping the White Creed.[1][2] It was founded by Athena and was later overtaken by Faris.[3] It is considered to be a counterpart to Avatar.[1]
History[]
Around 100 years prior to the year X793, Athena was created as a living weapon through Alchemy by Elefseria's supposedly late apprentice, Duke Barbaroa, in order to slay the Five Dragon Gods, though was stated by Elefseria to have been made for the self-defense of persecuted Mages. But when she escaped a seal placed on her by Elefseria due to her great power and left to Ishgar in hopes of finding feelings, she became known as the White Wizard and attracted followers which eventually led to the formation of Rebellious, a White Magic-based cult seeking to turn the world into a "white nothingness" to prevent the threat of congregating powerful Magic, seemingly in response to Avatar.[4][5][6][1] During her time as head of the cult, Athena considered recruiting White Dragon Slayer Sting Eucliffe.[7]
Recently, the Gold Dragon God Viernes's proxy, the fake Duke, found her in Ishgar and returned her to his Alchemist Guild Gold Owl in Guiltina's city of Filan, with Duke hoping to find materials to use to complete her "imperfections" and help her be human.[8][9] In her absence, a Whiteout Priestess from Elentear named Faris, under orders from Selene to Whiteout the other Dragon Gods, took over Rebellious and the identity of the White Wizard, eventually becoming warped in the belief of the "White Creed" which led to some personality disorders.[10][11][12][13] As a result, Faris used Whiteout on various Mages in X793, gaining the attention of Jellal Fernandes when her actions unintentionally resulted in deaths due to Magic Deficiency Disease.[14][15]
At some point, she was requested by Karameel to Whiteout Mercphobia, the Water Dragon God, in hopes of allowing him to live a normal life. She then infiltrated Fairy Tail due to their Mages being quite powerful when gathered together, using them to undertake Selene's plan of using Aldoron, the Wood Dragon God, against the others, though this had been a trick by Selene. After her homeworld of Elentear was saved by Fairy Tail, Faris stayed there, assumingly leaving her post as leader for Rebellious.[16][17][18][19][20]
Location and Building[]
Their specific buildings and locations are unknown, however one of their churches was located within Drasil, which means it can be assumed there are multiple bases across the world.[21] Through requests, cultists of Rebellious (specifically the White Wizard) have been seen traveling throughout the world, such as the southern continent of Ishgar and northern continent of Guiltina in order to invoke their goal.[22]
Goal[]
Rebellious' goal is to change the world into a "white nothingness" using the power of restriction and erasure on anyone able to use Magic, especially those who contain "overwhelmingly powerful Magic"; taking requests to travel to places and contain any great Magic Power.[23]
Interestingly, while Athena is considered to be the cult's founder, she herself admits that she never preached to its followers, leaving the origin of the cult's beliefs unknown. For Athena, the founding of Rebellious was a seemingly unintentional effect of her attempting to try to live life like a human and gain emotions.[24]
Strength[]
While the strength of the specific devotees are unknown, the founder of Rebellious is said to rival Zeref's prowess and abilities, and is said to be capable of slaying the Five Dragon Gods.[25][26] The brainwashed followers also have the ability to brainwash others through extended eye contact.[27]
