Raj (ラージュ Rāju) is a member of the Fire & Flame Guild.

Appearance

Raj dresses himself in a punk motif, having wild, spiky, messy hair, spiked wrist braces, collar and piercings. interestingly, Raj appears to have eyelashes shaped like bat wings. He wears a black torn shirt underneath what appears to be an uwagi jacket tied with a black sash while using only one sleeve. He also wears a cape with a web-like pattern, checkered pants and black boots.

Personality

Raj for the most part comes off as over excited, constantly smiling and laughing at every little thing and poking fun at others, which even his own guild mates find irritating. He’s also arrogantly overconfident, thinking himself to be invincible as his power allows him to trick others while keeping himself hidden while boasting about it. His smug persona quickly fades when someone manages to gain the upper hand on him. He’s not above laughing at his own bruises dealt to him by opponents, so long as his group obtains overall victory.

Synopsis

100 Years Quest arc

Coming into assist Brian’s fight with Natsu Dragneel, Raj casted an illusion around Natsu as if the whole town of Hawthorn had been suddenly burned to ash. Natsu however sees right through it as he doesn’t smell anything burned. The illusion gets undone as Raj reveals himself to the Dragon Slayer while laughing excitedly. He then makes fun of Natsu’s spiky pink hair, comparing it to a sea urchin while touching it, greatly annoying Natsu as he punched him, only for it to actually be another illusion as Raj laughs at him. Brain reminds him that they need to bring him to Ignia, Natsu agrees to come along after giving the both of them a beating. Raj continues to laugh at him as he’s certain Natsu is unable to touch him while hiding in his fire illusions, to which Natsu focuses on his sense is able to track his scent and punch Raj for real.

Brian tries to capture him with his large hand mouth, but Natsu dodges by jumping above him, Brian spawns another mouth from his hat to capture him. However, Natsu willingly puts his fist in his mouth hat as he ignites his elbow to deliver a powerful punch to Brian. Raj manifests another illusion to surround Natsu in fire only for it to be consumed by the Dragon Slayer. As Natsu prepares to attack Raj again, their ally Lecka comes in to stop and face Natsu himself. Lecka gains the advantage with his Fire-Make spells long enough for Brian to finally capture him. Lecka and Brian then set out to take Natsu to Ignia as he informs Raj to take care of the rest of Natsu’s team except for Erza Scarlet as their second in command; Wed wants to face her personally.

Magic and Abilities

Raj's Fire Illusion

Fire Illusion (炎幻 Engen): Raj casts a unique form of Illusion Magic through the use of flames. Making those caught in his fire to experience an illusionary scenery and figures rather than burn. Placing the targets in any random area or alter the current location, such as appearing as if it had been completely burn to nothing instantly. Raj particularly enjoys conjuring locations and beings from his favourite works of fiction. Raj can also make fiery duplicate illusions of himself while hiding his true presence. The illusion gets undone when the target sees through the facade as is it all evaporates into fire.

• Furious Wave (烈波 Reppa): Raj conjures a wave of flames around his targets, trapping them in place. Despite being an illusion, the flames of this spell was able to be consumed by Natsu Dragneel. This spell can also burn anyone without any fire resistance like that of a Fire Dragon Slayer.
• Nakajima (Spell) (ナカジマ Nakajima): Raj conjures an illusion that takes the form of a floating creature with droopy eyes, a wrinkly face, and large lips. Its head is adorned with petals circling around that give it the image of a flower. The illusion has no physical body but possesses a pair of arms.
• Griff (Spell) (グリフ Gurifu): Raj conjures an illusion that takes the form of a creature with an oval body. Its eyes are entirely black and has a long nose and thick lips. Its thin arms end in three-fingered hands and he has multiple tentacles for legs.
• Hien (Spell) (ヒエン Hien): Raj conjures a humanoid illusion that takes the form of a sword wielding person with a slender and tall physique, wolf-like ears and two stripes beneath each eye. The illusion also has a long hair with uneven fringes that extends all the way down to its nose.
  • Tenrou Style: Camellia (天狼流山茶花(てんろうりゅうさざんか) Tenrōryū: Sazanka): Raj's Hien illusion absorbs the falling snow around them into their sheathed sword before unsheathing it and attacking their target with multiple slashes as the snow takes the form of camellia petals.

Dragonization (竜化 Ryūka): After undergoing the process to become more Dragon-like, Raj has physically attained Dragon features, specifically his face now has an elongated snout with a horned nose, sharped teeth and scaly skin. Raj no longer has ears exactly, instead just holes when they normally should be. He appears slightly hunched, seemingly also having a longer neck. Raj also has clawed hands and a tail.
