Pyxis (ピクシス Pikushisu), "The Compass" (羅針盤座 Rashinban za), is one of the Silver Key Celestial Spirits that is owned by Lucy Heartfilia.

Appearance

Pyxis bears resemblance to a red bird. It has small wings and a beak. Pyxis also has beady eyes, a tubby body figure, and small yellow feet. It has triangle-shaped patches located mostly on its torso region. The most distinctive feature it has is the large blackish-gray compass on its head.

Grand Magic Games arc

Pyxis using its compass to help Lucy

A key to Pyxis' gate eventually came into the possession of Celestial Spirit Mage, Lucy Heartfilia who formed a contract with it, the details of which are unknown. At the Sky Labyrinth, during the preliminary round of the X791 Grand Magic Games, Pyxis is summoned by Lucy who instructs it to direct them to the east, in order to get to Domus Flau. Pyxis points towards east and the group follows its direction but the group quickly finds themselves lost as navigating the labyrinth isn't such a simple job.

Furthermore, when Lucy's group enters the center of the Sky Labyrinth, Erza's compass fails to work, whereas Pyxis successfully finds which way is east. Lucy knew that Pyxis could find directions even when there is magic preventing it.

	Pyxis locates the South Warehouse

Pyxis sits in the destroyed Celestial Spirit World amidst its debris and other fearful Celestial Spirits as the Eclipse Spirits converse amidst themselves. Pyxis was later summoned by Lucy in order to locate the South Warehouse at the Magic Library.

After Liberum is completed, Pyxis and the rest of the Celestial Spirit are absorbed by the Eclipsed Celestial Spirit King during his havoc. After his defeat, the Celestial Spirit King is brought back to his original self and the Celestial Spirit World returns to normal as well as the rest of the spirits.

Magic & Abilities

Directional Reference: Pyxis has the ability to tell directional references. When it does this, the compass on top of its head spins until it stops and Pyxis points the way with both of its wings. The anime enhances this, allowing Pyxis to tell the exact direction of where they need to go.

Immortality: As a Celestial Spirit, Pyxis cannot die, unless it is somehow forced to stay in the Human World.
