Nikora, "The Canis Minor" (ニコラ Nikora) are a breed of Silver Key Celestial Spirits. Nikora can come in various colors and patterns, they have no obvious combat abilities and are usually kept as a pet for low-powered Mages,[1]. The most notable Nikora are Plue and Nico. Nikora keys have been shown to be sold for as little as 20,000 Jewel.png.[2]

Nikora are short, stout creatures having stubby tails, they can come in many colors, mainly white, some even have darker marks/spots on the back of their heads and backs and/or limbs.[3] Most Nikora have pairs of bland black eyes, though some have visible pupil in their eyes and a golden horn-like nose. Their bodies often shake nervously, though this doesn't always occur.[4][1] Some Nikora wear clothes of various fashion.[5] They also have been shown to grow facial hair. They cannot speak besides saying "puu-puun", which certain individuals are able to understand. Some mostly communicates by using gestures and motions.[1]


Though each of their individual personality is undetermined. Because they are not designed for combat, they serve as cute pets for their masters instead.[1] Being Celestial Spirits mostly used for recreational purposes, most are shown to have a fun-loving and carefree nature. Most are shown to have an affinity for dancing and partying.[6] Some have even been shown to enjoys sweets. One was shown to have grown a liking to Happy.[7] They usually hide and sometimes cower in fear once any battles commence. Though if their owners call for them during battles, they will do their best for whatever their owners order them to do.

Magic and Abilities

Self Summoning: Though they may not have any combat abilities, some are able to open their gates without their owners summoning them.

Enhanced Speed: Some have shown to have enough speed to catch up to someone while running from a person.[8]

Immortality: As Celestial Spirits, Nikora cannot die, unless they are somehow forced to stay in the Human World.[9]


  • In the Manga, Lucy called the key "White Doggy" instead of "Nikora the Canis Minor".[10]
