Mashima HERO'S (Mashima HERO'S(ヒーローズ) Mashima Hīrōzu) is a Japanese manga series by Hiro Mashima and a spin-off to the manga series Fairy Tail.

Plot[]

The Fairy Tail guild is enjoying a well-deserved rest on True Island when Natsu gets drawn into the jungle by the smell of delicious fruit. There he encounters Shiki, a young boy who’s also after that same fruit. On the other hand, Haru and his friends are also on the island and intend to destroy something called "Oasis."

Manga[]

Written and illustrated by Hiro Mashima, HERO'S is a spin-off manga mini-series that began serialization on October 16, 2019. The mini-series is a crossover between three of Mashima's manga series: Rave Master, Fairy Tail, and Edens Zero.[1] In February 2020, Mashima announced that the manga would be rebranded as "Mashima HERO'S" to improve search engine results, and that he was considering a sequel to the story.[2]

Name Summary Cover Release Date
1. Hero's
(Hero's(ヒーローズ))
Team Natsu takes a tropical vacation on True Island, where the truth of the world sleeps. While exploring the jungle, Natsu gets into a fight over a fruit with a boy who uses Gravity Ether Gear, a strange power unlike any Magic Natsu has ever seen. Their battle is interrupted by the boy's friend, Rebecca, who reveals that there are plenty other fruits just like the one they've been bickering over. With their differences resolved, Natsu immediately befriends the boy, Shiki, and offers to help him find a friend named Homura, who went missing while looking for something on the island called "Oasis". Unbeknownst to them, their presence is found by one of the island's natives, Shinra, whose concerns for Oasis are dismissed by his elderly mentor, the Creator, who can turn things from his imagination into reality. Meanwhile, Haru and his friends are also on the island and intend to destroy Oasis. HERO'S Cover 1 October 16, 2019
2. Island
(Island(アイランド))
After Natsu and Shiki's groups marvel over the similarities between each other and the people they know, the two boys set out with Happy to investigate the island town in search of Homura, who recovers from a heatstroke to find herself imprisoned in a temple dungeon. While she puts up with the company of Wonderful Gocche and Ichiya, Haru's group infiltrates the temple to confront the Creator over Oasis, a Dark Bring that gives him his power over imagination; as a sign of goodwill, the Creator reveals all of his soldiers to be his creations and dispels them away. Upon Natsu and Shiki's arrival in town, Let and Julia—a duo with the scent of Dragons—overhear the two boys talking about Oasis and prepare to eliminate them, assuming them to be enemies. HERO'S Cover 2 October 23, 2019
3. Rebel
(Rebel(反逆者))
Natsu and Shiki prove to be a match for Let and Julia and their Dragon Race techniques. Meanwhile, the Creator—Mashymre—heeds Haru's warning about Oasis's true nature, but as he ponders over the consequences that destroying the evil stone would have on the island, he is betrayed and stabbed by Shinra, who has fallen under the Dark Bring's influence and claims the stone for himself. Shinra proceeds to destroy the temple—freeing Homura and her prison mates in the process—and indulge in his twisted dreams by creating tentacles on the beach to erotically ensnare Natsu and Shiki's female friends. Desiring even more power and popularity, Shinra uses Oasis to assume a new form resembling Jellal, dubbing himself Genesis. HERO'S Cover 3 October 30, 2019
4. Oasis
(Oasis(オアシス))
While Natsu and Shiki's friends fend off the tentacles, the two boys form a truce with Let and Julia to defend the townspeople from Genesis's army of black monsters. Meanwhile, the heroes inside the temple find themselves cut off from each other as Genesis restructures the entire island into a castle. During the chaos, Haru and Plue get catapulted far away from the castle and crash headfirst into Natsu, with neither of the boys recognizing each other. HERO'S Cover 4 November 6, 2019
5. Mix
(Mix(ミックス))
Haru, Natsu, and Shiki's friends continue to battle against Genesis's creations, which continue to multiply without end. Meanwhile, the three heroes are gawking over their shared familiarity with Plue when Genesis appears before them, overhearing that Plue has the power to destroy his Dark Bring. The heroes join forces to battle Genesis, but Genesis's imaginative powers allow him to overpower the trio with little effort. With Natsu and Shiki defeated, Genesis prepares to kill Haru. HERO'S Cover 5 November 13, 2019
6. Attack
(Attack(アタック))
Natsu and Shiki gain a second wind and attack Genesis, but Genesis dodges and lets their attacks collide with each other. While the three heroes argue among themselves, Genesis decides that he would rather kill them more creatively and retreats to his newly completed castle, Altairis. Unable to agree on their next course of action, the trio split up. As Genesis conjures more monsters in different places—including the Fairy Tail guildhall itself—to bring about the end of the world, the rest of the heroes encounter each other in splintered groups within Altairis and team up against the monsters; Gray and Musica in particular meet Shiki's friend Weisz, who builds a mechanical orb that he dubs their secret weapon, "HEROS". HERO'S Cover 6 November 20, 2019
7. Session
(Session(セッション))
Lucy, Rebecca, and Elie are nearly overwhelmed by the monsters and tentacles, but they are rescued by Natsu, Shiki, and Haru, who remain on sour terms with each other. Suddenly, all of their friends come together in the same room, reunited through the navigational system of Weisz's HEROS. Sensing the heroes' reunion, Genesis creates a legion of new, terrifying monsters against them. As the entire group convenes over a strategy, they are contacted by Shiki's crewmates, who reveal that the stone around Genesis's neck is actually channeling Oasis's power from another location on the island. Agreeing to work together again, the heroes set out to battle Genesis as a distraction while the rest of their friends seek out the real Oasis to destroy it. HERO'S Cover 7 November 27, 2019
8. Heroine's
(Heroine's(ヒロインズ))
While their friends advance through hordes of monsters towards True Island's center, where the real Oasis is located, Haru, Natsu, and Shiki reach the top of Altairis for a rematch with Genesis. With their coordination improved, the three heroes manage to overcome Genesis's attacks. Meanwhile, the rest of the group holds off the monsters for Elie, Lucy, and Rebecca to reach the cave at the heart of the island. There, the three heroines encounter Mashymre, who has regained his true identity as the god of creation and the one who made Oasis, and prepares to reveal the truth of the island to them. HERO'S Cover 8 December 4, 2019
9. Illusion
(Illusion(イリュージョン))
Mashymre explains that he is one of several creator gods who would draw illustrated stories from the temple of Maga, including the very adventures Haru, Natsu, and Shiki are on. Sixty years in the past, however, Mashymre became so obsessive in his work that he completely lost himself, creating True Island—the true form of Oasis—and all of its inhabitants as his power spiraled out of control. Using Plue, who just happened to be taken by the Jiggle Butt Gang, the heroines are able to combine their magic power with his to destroy Oasis's power, completely negating Genesis's power and allowing the three heroes to defeat him. HERO'S Cover 9 December 11, 2019
10. MAte
(MAte(仲間))
With Oasis's power gone, the island and everything on it disappears, leaving all of the heroes and Mashymre standing in a vast flowerfield. The heroes celebrate their victory and happily chat amongst themselves for a while until the field itself begins to disappear. Mashymre explains that he is returning to the land of the gods, which will cause everyone else to return to their respective worlds, so the heroes bid each other farewell, believing they will all meet again some day. Upon their return, however, they find that Mashymre has sent the Jiggle Butt Gang, Ichiya, and Mosco to the wrong worlds as a joke. HERO'S Cover 10 December 25, 2019
Side Story: HEROINE'S Three Secret Hot Springs Adventure Record
(HEROINE'S(ヒロインズ) 三大秘湯冒険記)
The three heroines gather for a tour of their favorite hot springs in each of their worlds. At Elie's secret spring in the Song Continent, the girls exchange embarrassing stories about erotic situations they've been in; at the Spa of Eden aboard the Edens Zero, Rebecca tricks Lucy into taking the ship's patented "mind-numbing torture and pleasure" massage; at the Balsam Village inn, Lucy tries getting revenge by offering Rebecca a kettle bath boiled by Natsu, but accidentally falls in and gets herself broiled instead. Afterwards, the heroines relax with their respective heroes, happy for the time they have spent together. Xiaomei and Mavis Vermillion comment on the fanservice-filled story before moving on to a scene Xiaomei has prepared for female readers, which is filled with an assortment of bizarre male characters from each story in the nude, much to Mavis's disgust. Trivia[]

  • Hiro Mashima created the manga to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Weekly Shōnen Magazine's first publication.
  • Mashymre's name is a corruption of Hiro Mashima's family name.
  • Genesis is Mashima's fourth derivative character based on Sieghart from Rave Master, following Jellal Fernandes and Mystogan in Fairy Tail, and Justice in Edens Zero.
  • The first letter of each chapter title and the second letter of chapter 10's title form Hiro Mashima's full name.
  • The cover of Chapter 8, which depicts a major antagonist from each series, revealed Edens Zero character Ziggy as an antagonist prior to the in-series reveal in Chapter 101.
  • In Chapter 9, the manga references fellow Weekly Shōnen Magazine artists Kei Sasuga, Kōji Seo, Yuji Terajima, and Jyoji Morikawa.
  • The side story "HEROINE'S Three Secret Hot Springs Adventure Record" is the only chapter that was removed from the English version of the volume and therefore never released in English.
