Kinana (キナナ Kinana) is a member of the Fairy Tail Guild and the former pet of Oración Seis member, Cobra. Unlike most other members of Fairy Tail, she joined the guild as an employee rather than a Mage.

While known as "Cubellios", she took the form a giant snake with violet scales and an egg shell-colored belly. Her eyes are green with black pupils, and is almost always in her basic snake form. In battle, however, she can spread out a pair of bat-like wings, allowing Cobra to use her as airborne transportation.

In her human form, Kinana is a relatively petite girl with violet-colored hair and green eyes, with a round head. Her attire consists of a light green dress that is designed with white and green laces and a green ribbon attached on her chest. She also has a light green ribbon which she wears on her head. Seven years later, in X791, her appearance has changed considerably. Kinana has grown noticeably taller, her bust has grown in size, and she now sports longer hair. Kinana's new attire consists of a lime green-colored blouse with a green neckline and trim, which is complimented by a long, white skirt. She is also seen wearing green boots.

Personality

Kinana has a habit of ending all her sentences with "-kina". She has a very quiet and mild-mannered personality, eager to help out at the guild when she can. When her comrades are in danger, she is willing to go as far as to meekly throw rocks at her enemies, showing her willingness to risk her own safety even without the ability to properly use Magic.

History

When she was young, she was turned into a snake by an evil Mage. She was turned back by Makarov after he realized that she was actually a human. Kinana had no recollection of being a snake when she was first turned back, but recently, her memory as a snake has slowly resurfaced, in which she hears a voice asking to hear her thoughts. She also said that she has made a promise with her friend - even if they would separate, he would ride a shooting star to come back for her. After Makarov turned her back, she signed up to become an employee of the Fairy Tail Guild. Makarov did this to keep an eye on her if she ever regained her memory, as if she did, something terrible could happen to her. Besides Makarov, only Macao Conbolt, Wakaba Mine and Mirajane Strauss know of Kinana's transformation.

Synopsis

"Cubellios" appears with her owner, Cobra, when Oración Seis confronts the Light Team. When she and Cobra engage Erza Scarlet in battle, Racer distracts Erza, allowing Cubellios to bite her, thus poisoning her.

When Nirvana's second stage is activated, she is seen with Cobra trying to stop Natsu Dragneel and Happy from reaching Brain. The two teams engage in a midair battle above Nirvana. She does not do anything after Cobra's defeat, leaving her fate at the time unknown.

Kinana later joins the Fairy Tail guild as a waitress, helping Mirajane with her work. While serving drinks, she laughs along with other guild members when she hears about Natsu Dragion, Natsu's Edolas counterpart. She later watches Erza Scarlet and Pantherlily's sparring battle and comments that it's dangerous. The next day, she is present during the announcement of the participants for the year's S-Class Wizard Promotion Trial.

X791 arc

Kinana speaks with Makarov

Seven years after the destruction of Tenrou Island, the guild is reduced into a small tavern with only few members remaining, one of which is Kinana. She now runs the bar of the Second Fairy Tail Building. After the return of the members of Fairy Tail that went to Tenrou Island, Makarov inquires into Kinana's well being, with Kinana replying that she still can't remember much of her past, but that she keeps hearing a kind voice asking to hear her thoughts.

Kinana watches while Lucy and Natsu practice dancing for their upcoming job with Romeo Conbolt, Mirajane and Happy. When Romeo mistakes Social Dancing as a game where you step on people's feet, Kinana corrects him by saying that's not the aim. When other members of Fairy Tail get in on the dance practice, Romeo invites her to dance with him, which she accepts. Later, when Lucy Heartfilia becomes invisible due to an expired lotion, she is present at the guild where she participates in painting Lucy's face. After Lucy returns to normal, she is hit by the invisibility potion when Happy accidentally drops it on everyone.

Kinana surprised by Michelle's arrival

Kinana stands with Lucy, Happy, Wendy and Carla and discusses the recent church bombings. She then listens closely to Michelle’s story when the girl arrives at the guild with a mysterious item, and helps Lucy and Wendy hold the case up. Later, when Jude’s strange gift falls to the ground and starts levitating and glowing, Kinana is seen staring at it in awe. A few days later, at the guild, Kinana, Macao, Wakaba, Mirajane, Elfman, Lisanna and Romeo are discussing Laxus and his duel with Natsu. Elfman suddenly suggests that they should hold a festival in honor of the showdown and they all agree on it.

When the members of the Legion Corps attack Fairy Tail, Kinana, unable to use Magic, throws rocks at them, much to the annoyance of Mary Hughes. She is then weakened by Earth Land Sugarboy's Dog Whistle Magic, but while he and his fellow comrades leave to chase after Lucy and Michelle, Kinana is able to regain her strength and help tend to Wakaba's and Macao's injuries. Hours later, she silently listens to Gildarts inform the guild of what he recently discovered about Zentopia Church.

When Natsu and the others return they see that Natsu has been shrunken to a smaller size. Kinana and the rest of the guild laugh about how small Natsu has become. Kinana listens as Lucy explains the content of the Key of the Starry Heavens book. They then decide to split up and search for the rest of the clock pieces.

Kinana begins to transform

Later, while most of the guild is out searching for the clock parts Legion is searching for, Kinana falls over in pain. As her arms start transforming into a purple like substance, she claims that the end in the guild's hands is near and that she can hear it coming too before fainting. Kinana is then brought somewhere by Macao and Wakaba, where she soon wakes up and hears that someone wants to hear her voice. When she asks who it is, she gets no response, but a vision of two men, one who has his back turned and one who lighty smiles. When asked what happened, Macao tries to pass it off as anemia, but Kinana realizes it has to do with her time as a snake to which she has no recollection. Later when the Infinity Clock is assembled by the new Oración Seis, Kinana begins to laugh uncontrollably in response with a dark look on her face.

Later, Kinana wakes up and walks to the guild hall in an unsteady state. She takes a fork and starts writing on the wall in an ancient language. While she is writing, she says the same words that Cobra said after he destroyed a church. After she finishes writing on the wall, she collapses and Elfman carries her to the infirmary. Levy finds out that she wrote on the wall in an ancient Potamelian language. Freed says that it is a description of Will Neville, the one who wrote "Key of the Starry Heavens", and Levy continues to translate what Kinana wrote about Will Neville's disciples. After hearing this, Lucy researches about Will Neville and finds out that Kinana knows more than the dictionary. While they discuss this, Elfman and Mirajane are taking care of her.

Later that day, Kinana is reported missing by Jet, having walked off claiming she can "hear somebody calling her". Whilst the members of the guild attempt to look for her, Kinana runs towards the Infinity Clock.

Finally, Kinana feels that the one speaking to her mind is close and runs towards Cobra. When Erza finished defeating Cobra, Kinana looks up to the sky and finds something falling. She realizes that it must be the person who has been calling out to her, and runs towards him.

When she finds the injured Cobra, she goes to his aid and asks him if he was the one who was calling her. Cobra thinks that it was Cubellios's voice and pushes Kinana to the ground. When he calms down, Kinana notices that he has a missing eye and asks what happened. Cobra replies by saying he lost it in order to gain power but he didn't lost hearing abilities. Kinana asked what his name was, he replied Erik. They were interrupted when Doranbolt and Lahar arrived to arrest the injured Cobra, Kinana refusing to let them take him, went into a panic and started transforming, Cobra noticed and then heard the voices of the two Magic Council men thinking that she can't use magic but there's no choice if someone resists an arrest. Cobra decided to go quietly, Kinana asked one more time if he was the one who called her, he replies he doesn't know what she was talking about. When they were leaving, she knew that he was the one that called her.

Grand Magic Games arc

During the first day of the Grand Magic Games, Kinana is seen with the other members of the guild as Mavis explains the rules for the "Hidden" event. Later when Lucy is battling Flare, Kinana is cheering along with the rest of the guild.

She is seen cheering with everyone else when Erza single-handedly wins Pandemonium. At the end of the third day of the Grand Magic Games, Kinana is seen partying with the rest of her guildmates.

Laki saves Kinana

After the events of the third day, Kinana accompanies Fairy Tail to Ryuzetsu Land. During her time there, Laki saves her from the clutches of Hibiki, Eve, and Ren. She is later seen among the unconscious after Natsu destroys the park.

After the game administration decides to reorganize the teams due to Team Raven Tail's disqualification, Fairy Tail as a result reorganizes its two teams into one team, consisting of five members. Kinana, together with her fellow Fairy Tail comrades, is seen in the audience excited seeing their new "strongest team" comprising of Natsu, Gajeel, Gray, Laxus and Erza. When the battle between Team Blue Pegasus and Team Quatro Puppy begins, and the rabbit costume wearing participant unmasks himself, revealing him to be the Exceed, Nichiya, Ichiya's Edolas counterpart, Kinana becomes shocked like everyone else. Following Natsu's victory against Sting Eucliffe and Rogue Cheney on the 4th Day, Kinana is seen cheering him for it.

On the fifth and final day of the games, Kinana watches from the crowd as Team Fairy Tail enters the arena in 1st place. Later, as Mavis plans out a strategy for their Guild's representative team, Kinana asks the ethereal being about how they're going to deal with Jura Neekis.

Magic and Abilities

Kinana currently does not have any Magic ability. However, she is learning Take Over.

"Cubellios" Poison Mist

Poison Generation: "Cubellios" had the ability to produce very deadly poisons. Her poisonous bites have the ability to induce a slow and very painful death. "Cubellios" was able to transform her poison into mist which served as either an offensive projectile or a food source for Cobra.

Wing Generation: "Cubellios" had hidden wings that allowed her to fly. When she generated her wings, Cobra used her as a mount.

Enhanced Strength: "Cubellios" had displayed enhanced strength, enough to lift Cobra with relative ease. She also knocked Natsu backwards quite a distance with just a snap from her tail.

Oración Seis Fairy Tail Guild Cobra Main article: Cobra File:Episode 62 - Cobra unconscious.JPG Cobra silently expressing his "prayer" While sealed in a serpentine form and known as Cubellios, Kinana used to be the pet of Oración Seis member Cobra, acting as his partner during battle and as a flying means of transport for the Dark Mage. The man cared deeply for his companion, so much, in fact, that his guild "prayer" was merely to hear the voice of the reptile, which he considered his dearest and only friend; a feat which was impossible even for his hearing-related Magic. After the return of her former owner's Dark Guild as Reborn Oración Seis, Kinana starts feeling the bond which linked her to Cobra again, hearing his voice from afar, and becomes obsessed with finding him. The two finally meet right as the Infinity Clock is wreaking havoc on Fiore. The friends reunited, at long last Kinana asks an injured Cobra whether he's the one who's been calling her, and the Dark Mage recognizes her as his reptile friend. Before the two can talk further, however, Council members Lahar and Doranbolt show up to arrest Cobra. Not willing to lose the longed-for old friend she's just found again, Kinana, in a fit of rage, readies to awaken her past abilities to attack the two. The Oración Seis Mage, however, stops her, surrendering himself to the authorities in order for the woman not to be arrested alongside him, telling her that the one she's looking for isn't him, but that she's lucky to have a friend to search for. Kinana, however, is aware of the man's identity, and the two smile as they are separated, happy to have finally met each other again, even if for a brief moment. Mirajane Strauss Main article: Mirajane Strauss Mira and Elfman take care of Kinana After joining Fairy Tail, Mirajane, being one of the few people that know of her transformation, guides Kinana and shows her around during her first days in the guild. Kinana later becomes a waitress and helps Mirajane out around the guild with her work, as well as assisting her with the chores. During the time Kinana begins to experience abnormal behavior, Mirajane takes care of her the entire time, including when she collapses after writing a series of ancient potamelian on the wall of the Fairy Tail building.

Trivia

• Her appearance is based on Hiro Mashima's assistant, Kina Kobayashi. However, her overalls aren't a frilly one.
• After 7 years, she appears to have abandoned her habit of saying "-kina".
• She appears earlier in the anime as she can be seen at the start of the Tenrou Island arc. While in the manga, she made her debut in the middle of Grand Magic Games arc.
