"COOL!!!" |
Jason (ジェイソン Jeison) is a reporter from Sorcerer Magazine.
Appearance[]
Jason is a relatively short young man with blond hair that sticks up in the middle. He wears a pink t-shirt, blue jeans, brown shoes and black sunglasses. He carries a white satchel with him and a black camera as well. In the year of X791, he wears a t-shirt with the name "Fairy Tail" written on it.
Personality[]
Jason is a very eccentric and cheerful individual. He is almost always smiling and is seen to be easily elated. He is starstruck by nearly every famous Mage he sees. He greatly admires the Mages to the extent of praising all their foolish actions. He frequently shouts "COOOOL!" every time he believes something cool happens, although usually it isn't as amazing as he views it to be.
Synopsis[]
Battle of Fairy Tail arc[]
Jason arrives at the Fairy Tail Guild and quickly interviews Erza, Happy, Juvia and Gray. As soon as he sees Natsu, Jason is overjoyed and quickly approaches him, but Natsu immediately punches him for giving him a bad reputation. Jason quickly shakes it off and then proceeds to approach Elfman, while ignoring Lucy. After that, he interviews Shadow Gear (asking them about their love triangle), Makarov (asking him about his plans for the future of the guild) and some other guild members, but not Lucy. When Gajeel suddenly arrives, he performs a song about friendship, while Lucy tries to get Jason's attention by wearing a bunny suit. A few days later, Jason publishes his article, staining the guild's reputation even further.[1]

Understanding that Jet is upset about it, Jason tries to calm him down by saying that those are just rumors. During the race, Jason uses a Lacrima which helps him keep an eye on the racers.[2]

Jason appears during a festival held for the battle between Laxus and Natsu. He gives a speech about the battle, the festival and how cool everything is going to be, before introducing Gajeel to the stage, when the studded Mage takes Mirajane's original singing role, as the latter has a cold. He then comments on the entirety of Natsu and Laxus' fight, Natsu's defeat, and the aftermath in which everyone tries to hunt for Gajeel - who mysteriously disappeared when it was his turn to fight.[3]
Later, Jason jumps out of the bushes with his signature catchphrase just as Gildarts stops Byro Cracy in his path. He then takes notes and many pictures to document Gildarts' activity for the Weekly Sorcerer Magazine. He watches the fight between Gildarts and Byro in excitement from the sidelines, but then runs from the scene under Gildarts' instructions.[4]
Grand Magic Games arc[]
After the return of the missing members of Fairy Tail, the news about their return spreads throughout the continent like wildfire. After hearing the news, Jason visits the Fairy Tail Guild to learn what happened to the members during their seven years of absence in detail. As usual, he is excited to interview the members.[5]
On the second day of the Grand Magic Games, Jason is the guest commentator for the day and sits next to Yajima, being very excited about the games.[6]
Avatar arc[]
In the year X792, Jason pays a visit to the on-going Grand Magic Games, excited over Chrisack's appearance during the fourth day of the tournament. He is soon joined by Lucy, whom he hired as a reporter. The battle is quick to end, with Chrisack as the winner, prompting Jason's excitement to resurface. By the end of the day, Jason and Lucy walk side by side, the latter informing him that she will be writing the article and the layout of today's events. Before they part ways, Jason abruptly voices his disappointment of this year's Grand Magic Game; as the previous year's guilds did not enter, including Fairy Tail. Lucy reminds him that Fairy Tail is no more, but he takes note of the Guild Mark on her hand. He turns around as he walks away, disappointed over the fact that Fairy Tail is truly gone.[7] The following day, the conclusion of the Grand Magic Games is quick to arrive, with Skull Millione attaining victory over Dullahan Head; Lucy's prediction, which shocks Jason. However, a challenger appears and releases powerful flames, blowing away the champions and burning the clothes of the nearby spectators. The challenger soon reveals his face, Jason oozing with excitement after realizing that it is Natsu.[8] Later, with excitement, Jason notices the burning message on the Mercurius Castle, ready to write an article about Fairy Tail's revival, while encouraging Lucy to do her best.[9]
