Team Natsu rescue squad

Meanwhile, Natsu, Gray, Lucy and Juvia are travelling by boat after Erza. When they approach the Tower’s boundaries, Natsu gets a feeling of danger, and they see birds dying. They see the fishes are dead, and recognize the ships from the military, now reduced to pieces. In order to protect and hide them, Juvia uses her Water Dome.

In the meantime, Shô and Simon show Erza to her cell. Shô tells her that she has been chosen as a living sacrifice, and that she should feel honored to die, so they can bring forth “paradise”. Erza shivers, not because she is supposed to be a sacrifice, but because in this very spot, she got taken, and received punishment for something she didn’t do. Jellal had wanted to be punished himself, but the guards still took her away. Erza asks Shô of the repercussions of using the Revive System, but Shô brushes them of, saying that all magic corrodes the soul. After all, they are trying to create a Heaven, with them as rulers. They do not care of anyone else. Erza frees herself while Shô is euphoric, and knocks him out. Her mission now is finding and neutralizing Jellal.

Elsewhere, Happy wakes up in a cat-centric room. Millianna hugs him, and Wally concludes that Happy is a cat because he talks. They are informed that Erza escaped. In his throne room, Jellal sees that too, and asks himself who will win, he or Erza.

The magic council is still arguing, and Siegrain calls the members weak because of their resolve. He proposes using Etherion, an immensely powerful magic, able of destroying a country with a hit, and the Council’s Ultimate weapon. The council reacts in horror, mentioning the severity of such an attack, but Ultear, another member, concurs. He sticks to his idea, even though it would mean killing his twin.

Natsu and the others arrive at the shore of the Tower. Juvia finds an underwater passage, and creates water bubbles with air inside so they can travel. When they get inside the Tower, they engage in a fight the guards, and come out winners. A passageway opens for them, and we learn, that Jellal has allowed them to enter to play a game. At the council, a third vote is cast in favor of Etherion.

Erzasad

Erza opens up, for the first time

The gang then finds a room where there’s food. They eat, and ask themselves why they have been allowed to go this far. A group of guards comes in, and Erza knocks them out. She expects her friends to leave, but Natsu is the first to refuse, and leaves to look for Happy. Erza says she will be responsible for returning Happy and Natsu home, but the group still refuses, saying it is now their problem, being that they are her friends. Erza cries, and begins telling her story. A black magic cult was responsible for creating the R-System. She, along with others, was used as a prisoner and as a slave to build this tower. In the midst of all this chaos she managed to make friends. One of them was Jellal.

Jellal finds Erza after her punishment, with her right eye damaged. He gets her out, but is in turn imprisoned by the guards. The guards take her back to her cell, where a little Shô cries he can’t take it anymore. This wakes Erza up, both physically and spiritually, and she decides that the only way to gain freedom is by fighting. Meanwhile, in the punishment room, Jellal is shown to have become, as Erza calls him, “evil”.
