Dogramag (ドグラマグ Doguramagu), also known as The Earth Dragon God (土神竜 Dojinryū), is one of the members of Five Dragon Gods that inhabited the continent Guiltina. Before his alleged death at the hands of Elefseria in X693, he was a member of the all-powerful group known as the Six Dragon Gods. His powers from his supposed remains created what became known as the Great Labyrinth of Dogra.[1] After falling to Elefseria and consuming his Dragon's side heart, he used the power to regenerate his being and gather information on the world over the next 100 years.[2]

Synopsis[]

Great Labyrinth arc[]

When Ignia proclaims that his only true friend is Dogramag, the Earth Dragon God muses out loud before causing the labyrinth to shake[5] as he playfully chides his friend for not visiting him for 100 years. He emerges from the ground in front of everyone and gives out a powerful roar of his return. Dogramag comments that he has been sleeping for too long thanks to Elefseria and greets Ignia with a warm smile. He tells his fellow Dragon God that it is finally ready. However, Dogramag tells Ignia to go ahead, stating that he needs to stretch out his legs while noting the presence of other humans within his labyrinth. The Earth Dragon God comments on Natsu Dragneel as the human Igneel raised and asks Ignia if he can just beat him up instead, which his request is granted. When Natsu tries to go after the Fire Dragon God, Dogramag refrains him from leaving and warns that if he does, then the Mage's friends will be killed and eaten by him. He laughs, commenting that Natsu is like an open book and tells him the results are same either way for he cannot beat him. As his body shrinks down to assume human form, Dogramag tells the Fire Dragon that he knows how "strong" he is thanks to Elefseria's heart he used to gather intel for 100 years. He further states that while he cannot use his real power after waking up, he is confident that Natsu will actually be a good match for him. Daring his enemy to attack, he proclaims himself as Dogramag the Earth Dragon God and the creator and part of the labyrinth itself.[6]

Dogramag is the first to attack by raising his right hand to cause the earth erupt underneath Natsu, sending him flying. He quickly appears in front of the shocked Fairy Tail Mage to punch him which Suzaku intervenes. When the Fires decided to work together, Dogramag muses that they are worth eating.[7] Dogramag stands intimidatingly in front of Natsu and Suzaku before the two Mages of Fairy Tail and Diabolos charge at him together. He raises his right hand to unleash earth pillars from the ground which Natsu maneuvers through them and punches him in the face with Fire Dragon's Iron Fist. But Dogramag remains completely unharmed and retaliates by manifesting a huge earth fist to smash Natsu into the ground. He is then struck by Suzaku's Underworld Purgatory Dance without sign of injury. The Earth Dragon God reminds them about the labyrinth's walls the two Dragon Slayers were unable to break earlier, proclaiming that if they can't do that, then they stand no chance against him. Dogramag unleashes Earth Dragon God's Ze Kitora upon Natsu and Suzaku, proclaiming to let the cries of the earth tremble. He easily swats aside a large rock Natsu punched towards him and tanks his opponent's Fire Dragon's Talon before throwing him aside. He also catches the Dark Dragon Slayer Knight's sword with his left hand and punches him in the stomach, sending him flying. He smirks as the Fires note of his toughness.[8]

Dogramag makes a shoulder charge towards the two Dragon Slayers, pushing them back hard. He comments that Ignia is weird for having an obsession with Natsu despite their friendship. He also notes that Igneel was also weird for liking humans which he believes it runs in the family, upsetting Natsu who comically proclaims that no one is weirder than him. The Earth Dragon God corrects Suzaku that he really died for letting his guard down and praises Elefseria to be powerful for a human. He informs the two that before he died, he ate the heart of Elefseria's Dragonized side and returned to the earth before miraculously waking up as a second chance of life albeit with hardly any power. Because of that, he regenerated his power for 100 years by building the labyrinth as suggested from his friend Ignia. But when Suzaku asks of the labyrinth's purpose, Dogramag decides to stop talking and raises several earth pillars to attack the two again. He states that while Natsu may be off limits, everyone else inside his labyrinth is fair game before encasing the Vermillion Dragon Eater with chunks of the earth.[9]

Stomping his feet on a defeated Suzaku's head, Dogramag states that all sorts of disasters came to humans who defied the earth since the ancient times and views humanity as stupid in any era. He refutes Natsu's speech about humans, pointing out that he is not human either through his Etherious' scent. But after receiving a punch to the face from Natsu, the Earth Dragon God in shock realizes that his body is suffering damage and wonders how it could have happened.[10] Dogramag is struck in the face by Natsu's fire-powered punch after Gajeel Redfox destroyed the last Dogra Core.[11]

Suffering heavy damage, Dogramag finds out that all 72 Dogra Cores are destroyed. Smirking, he laughs out loud about the fact he got handicapped this big. He states that he is going to really enjoy duking out with Natsu. The Earth Dragon God catches Natsu's flaming leg and throws him hard towards the wall. He then attacks the Fire Dragon Slayer with Earth Dragon God's Ga Merujio. However, Dogramag is overpowered by Natsu's Fire Dragon King's Destruction Fist, shocked at such strength. Regaining his feet, he elbows Natsu on the head before kicking him away and then punches him in the face. Annoyed at Natsu's stubbornness, Dogramag unleashes a wave of earth to bury him alive but a recovered Suzaku cuts them down in time. As his veins pop and scales form around his human body, the Earth Dragon God lividly apologizes to Ignia that he is going to break his word and kill Natsu for enraging him. Transforming back into a Dragon, he muses that it is like those humans who arrogantly defied the Gods and roars loudly. Dogramag proclaims that he will kill Natsu and Suzaku as he smashes them deep into the ground and unleashes Earth Dragon God's Ji Korumea on them. After sealing his enemies away, he comments that they cannot move and breathe anymore, and proclaims they will be one with the earth. But he is shocked when the Fires break out of their earth prison. Dogramag is shocked to see a Unison Raid forming when Suzaku throws his sword to Natsu and tells him to wreathe it with flames. He is struck down by Natsu's Fire Dragon's Slash at the scarred area of his chest.[12]

As his body crumbles away, Dogramag is unable to comprehend that he lost to humans. Collapsing, he finally understands why Ignia is interested in Natsu. But the dying Earth Dragon God warns Natsu and Suzaku that the "seeds" have been sown and the Age of Humans will soon come to an end. He proclaims his confidence in Ignia to carry out the plan before he passes away and the labyrinth begins to collapse.[13]

The death of Dogramag and subsequent collapse of the labyrinth causes an earthquake that shook the entire continent of Guiltina and reshaped the land in some areas.[14]

Magic and Abilities[]

Earth Dragon Slayer Magic (土の滅竜魔法 Tsuchi no Metsuryū Mahō): Dogramug can utilize elemental Dragon Slayer Magic like all the other Dragon Gods, which in this case is earth. His power after his supposed death created a never-ending maze after his body merged with the land itself and took root from his Magic Power continuously radiating.[15] His earth element is more durable than normal as it is nearly indestructible, impervious to intense heat, powerful blasts or slashes as Dogramag whose entire body is earth is also shown to be as durable[16] and nothing less than the power of an equal to Dogramag can damage it.[17]

  • Earth Dragon God's Ze Kitora (土神竜のゼ・キトラ Dojinryū no Ze Kitora): After levitates tons of debris of rock with a rising hand gesture, he crosses both of his arms in front of himself before attacking his opponents with violent flurries of rocks from up above.[18]
  • Earth Dragon God's Ga Merujio (土神竜のガ・メルジオ Dojinryū no Ga Merujio): Dogramag covers his arm with several rocks, forming a massive fist made of earth to deliver a megaton punch at his opponent.[19]
  • Earth Dragon God's Ji Korumea (土神竜のジ・コルメア Dojinryū no Ji Korumea): After turning into his dragon form, Dogramag stomps his opponents onto the ground, burying them deep into the earth as the surface closes behind them, trapping them as they experience difficulty to move or even breathe.[20]

Law Dragon Slayer Magic (法の滅竜魔法 Hō no Metsuryū Mahō): By consuming the heart of Elefseria, Dogramag was granted dominion over the attribute of Law (法 hō), which is the power of knowledge and of obtaining all information in the Magic world. He can gain access to information not known by the humans of the current era and use it as a way to gather intel for 100 years.[21][22]

Transformation Magic (変身魔法 Henshin Mahō): Dogramag, like the other Five Dragon Gods, is able to change appearances into that of a full-fledged human,[23] and he can revert-back to his true dragon self whenever he wishes.[24]

Master Hand-to-Hand Combatant: Dogramag in his human form is a formidable hand-to-hand combatant as he is able to clash and almost overwhelm Natsu and Suzaku in close range battle.[25][26]

Immense Speed: Despite his human form's large size, Dogramag is fast, being able to instantly appear in front of a surprised Natsu who was charging towards him[27] and shoulder charge against Natsu and Suzaku at great speed, sending them flying. [28]

Immense Durability: Dogramag in his human form is incredibly durable, being able to easily tank Natsu's Fire Dragon's Iron Fist and Talon, and Suzaku's Underworld Purgatory Dance without signs of injury.[29][30] Although this is due to the 72 Dogra Cores which are source of his durability and destroying them would cause his durability to diminish to the point he receives actual damage from Natsu.[31][32]

Dogramag's remains

Dogramag's body radiating magic power

Immense Magic Power: As one of the Dragon Gods, Dogramag possesses an immense amount of Magic Power which is said to be equal to that of Acnologia.[33] However, Dogramag is stated to be weakest of the Dragon Gods, but was still a powerful threat compared to other dragons. Even after his supposed death, his magic power overflowed and created the Great Labyrinth of Dogra, which has continued to extend throughout the years. His body continued to radiate power worthy of the name of Dragon God.[34]

Trivia[]

  • Dogramag's name possibly originates from 1935 Japanese novel Dogura Magura by Yumeno Kyūsaku in which the story revolved around the protagonist waking up in a hospital with amnesia and finding out that he was the subject of an experiment by a now-dead psychiatrist, with the doctors working to bring back his memories.
