The Strongest Wizard is the 521st chapter of Hiro Mashima's Fairy Tail.

Summary

After Irene's defeat and Natsu's recovery, and Magnolia restored back to its original place, the rest of the Fairy Tail members continue to celebrate of their home restored to normal. Meanwhile, more Alvarez troops continue to battle against Fairy Tail but Freed and Bickslow countered. Freed asked Mavis what is their next move, Mavis told them to fight somewhere they could fight with ease and keep their guard up for enemies that'll attack behind. Laxus walks to the group with Makarov's body in his arms, telling him that he'll take him home.

In the middle of the town, Mirajane, in her Satan Soul form, continues to fight against one of the last Spriggan 12, Jacob, whom survived Natsu's last attack. Mirajane landed the final hit on Jacob before losing all of her power and returning back to normal. Jacob falls to the ground defeated. Mirajane noticed that Jacob closed his eyes during their fight but thanked him for his quirky attitude and said that he is strong that he pushed her so far.

Elfman and Lisanna, in her Take-Over: Cheetah Soul form, looks at the defeated Ajeel, wondering that they had finally defeated him and it took both of them to take him down. However, to their surprise, Ajeel is still conscious and glares at them, saying he's not done yet. Before anything else happens, a frail, elderly man with a cane and hunchback walks up towards them. The man is revealed to be Ajeel's grandfather, telling Ajeel, "Enough, Ajeel." Elfman and Lisanna were caught off-guard by his grandfather, telling them that both sides of the war had lost things that were very important to them. Elfman and Lisanna understood of what he meant and know that what war will have the same results and told him that the empire has won and defeated many counties, not knowing of what the defeated countries have lost. Ajeel's grandfather bowed his head, asking them whether they spare his life or not, but spare his grandson's. Ajeel, is shaken up that his grandfather might die, tries to get up and told his grandpa not to get in the way but Elfman told him to stop and Lisanna added that they never thought of killing someone before. Ajeel is surprised that Lisanna said "big bro," knowing that they are siblings. Elfman hugged Lisanna saying that even though everyone in the guild is his family, Lisanna is his one and only cute little sister. Ajeel said they don't look alike, Elfman refuted that he and his grandfather don't look alike either, Ajeel shouted "Silence!" in embarrassment and anger.

Meanwhile, Lucy, Happy and the revived Natsu, walked out of the small building and tries to find anyone but no luck. Happy also noted that Carla and Porlyusica are not here. They heard someone said "We are here," and saw that it was Brandish and in her right hand, is Dimaria, who is apparently has been shrunken to a tiny state. Dimaria is abashed of her tiny form and saw Natsu up to her close with a serious expression. Natsu smiled, saying that he doesn't remember what happened but thought that he gone a bit overboard. Brandish notes that when Dimaria tries to kill Lucy, Natsu, not knowing, has shrunken her to a small state after she was severely wounded after Natsu's rampage. Dimaria, still frightened of Natsu, screams and tries to get away and ask Brandish to help her. Brandish waves at the trio and walks away with the tiny Dimaria. Lucy asked where are they going, Brandish replied that they don't need to worry, because she is not planning on becoming an enemy, but also added that she won't become an ally either. Lucy smiles softly and says, "See you again," Brandish replies, "What a drag..." after a long pause. But without them knowing, Brandish smiles.

After the encounter with the former Spriggan, the trio heard someone calling Natsu and Lucy. The trio turned around and saw Porlyusica, Carla and Evergreen, carrying Juvia on her back. Carla told them that Gray is missing and Porlyusica added that it's dangerous to walk around when he's in the condition that he's in. Juvia added that she woke when she saw the light, from Universe One's spell ending. Lucy and Natsu wondered about Gray's whereabouts but all of a sudden, they heard a loud rumbling. Carla pointed that the noise is coming from the top of the Kardia Cathedral, Natsu said that someone is standing on top of the church. The person is none other than the last and strongest of the Spriggan 12, the Magic King, August.

August said that he is the last Spriggan, noting that every single Spriggan has been defeated. August summons a powerful spell, calling out the children of Zeref to use their souls to devote his Majesty. The Fairy Tail mages are in complete and utter shock and fright of August's power, saying that not just the ground, but the atmosphere is rumbling. Back at the river, Brandish continues to walk, not panicking about the rumbling but thinking to herself that she wish to see Lucy again but said it won't happen because of August's wrath.

August continues his spell and called out, "I, as a child to his Majesty, will exterminate the enemy with all of your souls," meaning he will kill everyone, including the Spriggan 12. Everyone is frightened that he doesn't care who is his ally or enemy but warns everyone to run as fast as they can. However, before August finishes his spell to destroy the city, he spotted a figure falling from the sky and blocked the figure's punch, stopping his spell. The figure is revealed to be the Ace of Fairy Tail, Gildarts Clive. August is surprised of the strength of his punch, Gildarts sends August through the church, destroying it. Gildarts lightheartedly said that he destroyed the church. The Fairy Tail mages cheered that Gildarts is finally here to fight against the Magic King. August dodged the attack and sends a powerful spell towards Gildarts but Gildarts deflected the attack with ease. Gildarts told the mages let him fight August, causing the mages to cheer louder, Natsu smiled at his role model, helping them out. Natsu and Happy ran off to Zeref's place, Lucy asked them about Gray, Natsu told her don't worry, because he knows where Gray is.

Meanwhile, back at the Fairy Tail guild hall, Zeref looks at the door and said who would've guess that you'd be here first. Zeref added that he expected to see Jellal or Laxus but the person at the door is none other than Gray, who is clutching to his side. Zeref said he is honestly disappointed but Gray, ignoring his injuries and smiling, told Zeref to leave because he is sitting at Gray's spot. Zeref calmly said that this is the most sorrowful outcome for Natsu. Natsu said that Gray is at Zeref's place as Natsu and Happy continues to rush to their way towards the guild hall to meet Gray and Zeref before anything bad happens.
