Celestial Spirit Banishment Keys are gate keys created by Hisui E. Fiore that can force the 12 Golden Gates to open or close.[1]
Description
All of the keys look similar, but each key can only close a specific gate (the key given to Natsu can only close Leo's gate, the key given to Lucy can only close Virgo's gate, and so on). Before the keys can be activated to force the gates to close (or open), these have to be charged first with the magic of a Celestial Spirit Mage who has a contract with Celestial Spirits, and the spirits have to have lost their will to fight. Once the spirit has been defeated, the user must tap the key on the spirit's head, closing its gate, sending the spirit back to the Celestial Spirit World.
