Anchor (アンカー Ankā) is a Dragon known as The Sea Prison Dragon (海獄竜 Kaigokuryū), and one of the Calamity Bloods. His past self invaded Fiore through the malfunctioning Eclipse Gate during the X791 Grand Magic Games.[1]
Appearance[]
Like most dragons, Anchor is large and sports a midnight-green shade coloration. The upper part of his head, back, tail, arms, legs and talons are covered in tough scales. His underbelly and jaw—lined with sharp teeth—are crimson and smooth, and his abdominal muscles are especially well-defined. Unlike most dragons, Anchor does not have claws. Instead, he has extended digits with a dark, smooth patagium, making his flight more like a bat’s than a dragon’s. Spikes also run down his spine and along his tail, which ends in a rippled, almost torn shape that has the same color as his underbelly.[2]
In human form, Anchor takes on the appearance of a lean man with long hair and black markings surrounding his eyes. He wears small light robes underneath a large black robe, and a small crown, both of which adorned with features reminiscent to his dragon form.[3]
Synopsis[]
Grand Magic Games arc[]
Anchor during Future Rogue's declaration
Following the opening of the Eclipse Gate,[4] Anchor is among the seven Dragons who arrive from the past; when Future Rogue Cheney declares that he will end the current era and begin the era of Dragons, Anchor lands on a stone structure behind the Shadow Dragon Slayer and roars. He then leaves on Future Rogue's command and enters the city of Crocus, intent on killing every last Mage.[5] He then engages the members of an unknown guild and flaps his wings, destroying a large section of Crocus.[6]
After destroying its own section of Crocus, Anchor comes face-to-face with the Iron Dragon Slayer Gajeel Redfox, and growls at him menacingly.[7] Then, following Ultear Milkovich's rewinding of time,[8] Gajeel sees through Anchor's original attack and strikes the Dragon before he can be struck, greatly surprising him.[9] Shortly thereafter, following the destruction of the Eclipse Gate,[10] Anchor, growling in anger, returns to his own time in a haze of light.[11]
