Selene (セレーネ Serēne), also known as The Moon Dragon God (月神竜 Gesshinryū), is one of the Five Dragon Gods that inhabit the continent of Guiltina as well as the current Guild Master of Diabolos. She's regarded as a Dragon who crosses through the worlds due to her possession of an all-world dimensional magic.[1]

In human form, Selene takes on the appearance of a buxom and a curvaceous woman with her long blonde hair extending to her hips. For attire, Selene dons a loose kimono with fur lining on the top while also having flower designs all over it as well as zigzag lines on its edges. The back of her kimono has another layer of cloth with no intricate designs. Her head is covered by a hood adorned with an upward crescent moon with a gem on top as well as a pair of wings on each side. She also has a pair of socks while wearing wooden sandals.[2]

Personality[]

History[]

Selene existed as far back as the Dragon King Festival and, after some point in time after birthing Kurnugi and her other sons,[3] like the other Five Dragon Gods, fled to Guiltina in fear of Acnologia.[4]

Despite killing humans who threatened her life, friends of Elefseria's amongst them, Selene actually developed a love for humans, wanting to become one herself. But seeing the other Dragon Gods as posing a threat to her and humanity, one that she could not easily prevent due to the risks of a fight with her equals, she began traversing worlds and causing distortion in order to find weapons capable of killing her fellow Dragon Gods and ending the Age of Dragons, eventually coming upon worlds similar to Earth Land where she learned of Athena and attempted to find her, only for her to be lost in every world except Earth Land itself, where her location was seemingly only known to Elefseria's disembodied heart within the Great Labyrinth of Dogra via its increased Law Dragon Slayer Magic.[5][6][7][8][9]

One particular world she visited was Elentear, where she met Faris and asked her to erase Earth Land's Magic Power as well as killing the other Five Dragon Gods or else she would claim Elentear for herself.[10] She instructed her to Whiteout Aldoron first so they could manipulate him into fighting the other Dragon Gods.[11] However, this was apparantly a trick to revive Aldoron to make Earth Land "interesting", while she'd remain living in Elentear and slowly kill off its population to resolve its overabundance of Magic, though she later reveals she intended to see the result of the overflowing Magic Power in Elentear, and that Faris' actions were still a part of her plan, even if not in the way Selene had told her, making it difficult to verify if her later disregard of Aldoron is genuine or not.[12][13][14]

Magic and Abilities[]

Moon Dragon Slayer Magic (月の滅竜魔法 Tsuki no Metsuryū Mahō): Selene can utilize elemental Dragon Slayer Magic like all the other Five Dragon Gods, the element, in this case, is the stars[15]and the moon.[16] Selene uses this Magic to make her surroundings appear to be at nighttime with her own artificial moon and uses it to create an explosion that transports her targets into a different world, as well as offensive purposes such as pinpoint laser beam attacks.[17]

  • Relocation (転送 Tensō): Selene creates a large orb of galactic matter that sucks in and transports all that are caught in it to a chosen area.[17]
  • Moonlight Conflagration (月光炎 Gekkōen): Selene creates a large spiral of off-colored flames around her target, burning them.[18]
  • Moonlight Butterflies (月光蝶 Gekkōchō): Selene creates light-colored paper-like butterflies that causes major damage to those that become ensnared by it.[19]
  • Moonlight Blade (月影刃 Getsueijin): Selene swipes her arm sideways as she fires numerous crescent blades made of moonlight at her target. The speed of these blades is significantly quick, leaving Suzaku unable to react in time to properly block, let alone avoid, the blades.[20]
  • Moonlight Palm (月影掌 Getsueishō): With Selene's arm being raised forward, her palm facing the target, a blast of moonlight is launched toward said target, causing a large, columnar explosion to be created.[21]

Transformation Magic (変身魔法 Henshin Mahō): Selene, like the other Five Dragon Gods, is able to change appearances into that of a full-fledged human, though all Dragons possess the ability to transform to a certain extent.[22]

Selene using Aqua Aera

Aqua Aera (水の翼(アクアエーラ) Akua Ēra): Selene is shown to be able to use this Magic[23] to travel between dimensions as she is able to travel between Earth Land and Elentear.[1][24]

Telepathy (念話(テレパシー) Terepashī): Selene is able to make use of this form of Magic, allowing her to communicate with the The Moonlight Divinities telepathically.[25]

Flight: As a Dragon, Selene possesses the ability to fly through the air using her wings.[26]

Immense Durability: Selene's durability is strong enough to take on Natsu's attack with just one of her hand.[27]

Immense Magic Power: As one of the Five Dragon Gods, Selene possesses an immense amount of Magic Power which is said to be equal to that of Acnologia.[28] Her power is strong enough that it can affect Earth Land by creating storm surges while being in Elentir.[29]
